Attractions at the Kentucky Horse Park
The Kentucky Horse Park is as much a part of BreyerFest as our models and Pal O'Mine. Our veteran guests love making the trip to their beautiful bluegrass home away from home. There is often SO much to do at BreyerFest that many of our guests don't have a chance to visit all that the Horse Park has to offer. We always recommend taking some time to see the park and visit with the many equines that are lucky enough to live there! Here are some highlights you may want to check out! All attractions are included in your ticket unless otherwise noted.
Visit with Racing Legends at the Hall of Champions - From the moment you step foot into the Hall of Champions you know you are in the presence of greatness. You really can feel the power in each of these legendary Thoroughbreds and Trotters. Stay for one of the presentations and hear about each horse's racing career. A truly inspiring visit!
While you're at the Kentucky Horse Park don't forget to stop by the International Museum of the Horse! BreyerFest Three Day ticket holders get free admission to the museum, as well as the Horse Park's Hall of Champions and Parade of Breeds.
The museum is a favorite of BreyerFest attendees, volunteers, and Breyer staff! It's been a must see for all horse-lovers since it first opened in 1978. The Museum is one of the largest horse-focused museums in the world with over 60,000 square feet of space. Wow, that's a lot of horses!
In addition to several permanent exhibits, the museum has many visiting exhibits from around the world. You can see the full list of exhibits here. There are even some online exhibits for those unable to make it to the Museum in person. You can see those here.
New at the Museum in 2017 is Man O'War at 100: The Mostest Horse That Ever Was. The great Thoroughbred racehorse, Man O' War, was foaled on March 29, 1917, and the Kentucky Horse Park is dedicating a season-long celebration to commemorate the life of this amazing horse that is buried at the park's front entrance beneath his iconic statue. Don't miss the special exhibit Man o' War at 100: The Mostest Horse That Ever Was in the International Museum of the Horse this summer!
We hope you get to check out the museum and everything the Kentucky Horse Park has to offer while you're at BreyerFest!
For more information about the International Museum of the Horse check out their website.
The American Saddlebred Museum truly is the Kentucky Horse Park's "Showplace for Saddlebreds." Known as "The Horse America Made," the American Saddlebred has played an important role in our nation's history. That history, along with award-winning movies and unique, interactive exhibits (One even features Breyer portrait model CH Sprinkles!), are a must see during your visit to the park.
The historic Big Barn is home to the Park's draft horses and a display of incredible carriages. Following a fire in the 1920s, the Big Barn was enlarged to 463 feet in length and 74 feet in width, making it one of, if not the, largest horse barns in America. Wow! Visitors are encouraged to visit this barn in the mornings to watch the draft horses being groomed and harnessed for the Horse Drawn Tours (separate fee applies).
Horseback Riding - You can't come to Kentucky and not go riding! BreyerFest offers free pony rides for our younger fans, but the KHP offers a guided 40-minute trail ride, suitable for first-time riders, along the outskirts of the park. See site for age/weight restrictions. Separate fee applies.
For more information on any of the attractions at the Kentucky Horse Park visit the Equine Theme Park section of KyHorsePark.com. Remember - most KHP attractions are included with your BreyerFest ticket so be sure to check them out!
