Even Horses Have Birthday Parties!

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Bill and Wendy, owners of Kuchi, sent us this picture of Kuchi’s birthday party yesterday.   Turning 10 is a big deal and the Riccis threw Kuchi a party with some of her closest friends and family!

Here is Kuchi enjoying her birthday “cake” in front of all her birthday cards made by Breyer collectors.

Wendy also pointed out that our winner’s card has a secret message!  “Happy” is written in the markings of the horses on the front and “Birthday” is hidden in the grass.  Can you spot the message for Kuchi?

Happy Birthday Kuchi!

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Today Breyer Portrait Model and special BreyerFest Birthday Bash guest Kuchi is celebrating her 10th birthday!  Her birthday is particularly noteworthy to the history of the Gypsy Vanner breed because Kuchi was the first Vanner to be born in the United States.

We asked you to create birthday cards that we sent on to Kuchi for her birthday. We had a hard time picking a winner so we decided to award a glossy model to the first place winner and two regular run Kuchi models for second and third place!

The birthday card contest Grand Prize Winner of a glossy model of the beautiful birthday girl is…

 Audre Schutte of Oshkosh, WI

Audre created a beautiful watercolor card with a special message inside: “From the Old World…to the New”.  Better yet, her card featured exciting music reminiscent of a Gypsy celebration!

Second place goes to Cari Chaney from Norwich, CT with her “Genuine Gypsy Parts” pop up card and Katie Dema of DeKalb, IL earned third place with her ultra girly glittery Kuchi card!

 Congratulations!

Bill and Wendy Ricci, owners of Kuchi, were so impressed with the birthday cards that they created a display to take to Equine Affaire in April!  Be sure to visit them if you’ll be there!

Whether you sent a birthday card or not, be sure to stop by and say hi to Kuchi and wish her a happy belated birthday at BreyerFest this year!

bluegrass-bandit

The Carriers and their fabulous mare will be at BreyerFest again this year to help us celebrate our 20th anniversary. Bluegrass Bandit, a 2002 grey Tennessee Walking Horse mare, is known to steal the show when it comes to Trail Pleasure classes.  At the 2005 Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, Bandit was crowned the World Champion in Youth English Trail Pleasure and in Amateur Owned and Trained Western Trail Pleasure.  It the end, she was named the World Grand Champion in Western Pleasure and was voted the Trail Pleasure Horse of the Year by Voice of the Tennessee Walking Horse Magazine.  Come meet Bandit and her owners Chip, Bonny and Jared Carrier of Gobblers Knob Farm at BreyerFest Birthday Bash!

We have finally selected the Kuchi Birthday Card Contest winner!  We aren’t going to tell you just yet though.  You’ll have to wait until Kuchi’s birthday, March 18, for that news!

I can tell you this: We had such a hard time selecting a winner that we decided to award a glossy Kuchi to first place and two regular Kuchi models to 2nd and 3rd place!

Here’s a picture of the cards boxed up and ready to go to Bill and Wendy Ricci for Kuchi.

Who’s There?

Kuchi.

Kuchi who?

Kuchi kuchi coo!

That joke brought a smile to our face when we read it inside one of the amazing Kuchi Birthday Cards we received.

We’ve been bitten by the birthday bug here at Breyer!  We received so many beautiful Kuchi cards that we decided to display them on a bulletin board in the office for everyone to enjoy.  Almost everyone stopped to read the birthday wishes sent for Kuchi.

Stayed tuned for Kuchi’s birthday when we announce the winner of our Birthday Card contest.
