GVF Sjokolade is a SWEET Addition to BreyerFest!

GVF Sjokolade may be one of the top five highest Norwegian Fjord Horse Registry Stallions in the United States, but he knows how to have a little fun, too! "Known as "Hershey" to friends, this Fjord will be joining us at BreyerFest!

GVF Sjokolade ("Sjokolade" means "chocolate" in Norwegian) was awarded the S1 and G4 Medallions of Quality and had scores of above 80 in his conformation evaluation and performance tests at his breed inspection, which means he's a fine specimen of the Fjord breed! On top of more than 10 Grand Champion titles, he also earned the NFHR Award of Excellence in 2011 for his outstanding achievements in the show ring. Demonstrating the incredible versatility of his breed, Hershey has competed in dressage, pleasure driving, jumping, Western, draft, and conformation classes!

Green Valley Farm, of Galena, Illinois has kindly donated a basket to the BreyerFest Silent Auction. The basket includes ribbons, awards, photo books, jewelry made out of Hershey's mane, and perhaps the most special auction finds we've had: a bird's nest made out of Hershey's mane that was created by a feathered friend who shared his paddock!

About Fjords-Norwegian Fjords are some of the oldest breeds in existence today and have been traced back over 2,000 years to Viking burial sites. These strong and versatile steeds were used for agriculture, transportation, and as war horses to the Vikings. Today, their distinct look and primitive colors and markings make them stand out from the crowd. All Fjords are a shade of dun, most commonly brown, have zebra markings on their legs, as well as a dorsal stripe! Their manes are cut short and trimmed in a crescent shape, which shows off the dark stripe in the middle surrounded by white outer hair.

Awesome!

This is soooo cool! I wish I could be at Breyer Fest this year, but I never get to go. :( What a beautiful breed! I'd love some of those jewelry pieces, they sound so incredibly cool! This will probably go for a lot at the auction. Still in ahh, so special! The breed itself looks just like the Fjords in FROZEN! The animators did an amazing job capturing the breeds essence!

A must see

If you've never seen a Fjord in person, you will fall in love with this breed. They are stunning, versatile, well-tempered, and unforgettable. And if you haven't seen the Breyer model of GVF Sjokolade yet, I suggest you plan to get to the Breyer store quickly. This model is truly as stunning as the breed/horse itself. Love it. Thank you Breyer for inviting him to BF. Can't wait to meet this particular Champ.

Gorgeous horse!

Gorgeous horse! How generous for his owners to donate a basket. For Horseshoe Girl: Having a nest made from his hair is doubly special: 1. It is his own hair and 2. What a special item...a bird made a nest from his hair and a nest is an intricate and time consuming activity and a piece of art!!!

Wow!

A little bird, took strand by strand of Hershey's mane, and weaved it into a home for her babies. That is a pretty unique and cool little piece of nature's beauty to include in such a nice basket of gifts! I think it is unique and a great conversation piece!

You must not ever have had a bird build a nest out of a horse's mane before...I have found several from my horses. It is nature at it's finest, conserving material and using discarded material to serve another purpose. The hair dies, is shed, and is used to bring forth new life.

Cool. I would really like to see him. Just one question, why is a bird nest made out of this horse's mane sooo special. I just don't see it. Sorry.
