I'd say try Googling it; also, Breyer has an event calendar with different model horse show dates and where they are. :)

How many categories are there at the shows, or is there just one category for a show???

This is my first time showing and I plan on showing my horses at Breyerfest 2015 in the live show. But do I need a tag number? My other question is, how do I get ahold of a show director to get info on the show. (not just Breyerfest but any other show in my region)

To show, first find a show in your area. You can find out from the Breyer calender, but the most complete list of shows will be here: http://www.namhsa.org/membershowsbydate.htm

That is the North American Model Horse Show Association web site. You can search there by area, or by date. Keep an eye on there - new shows pop up all the time! Once you find a show, contact the show holder by email. In each area, there are different ways to show.

On the East Coast, you "register" the horses before the show and list their names and breed and put a numbered tag on the leg. In other areas, you don't do anything before the show, you put down index cards that have all the information on the card.

You'll need to come up with breeds and names for all your horses, either way you show. That's pretty much it! Aside from figuring out what you want to call them, and what breed you wish to show them as, and making cards or tags, you just go to the show, unpack your horses, and wait for the class to be called.

I like to print out the class list and write the horse's name under each class. Maybe I will lightly cross out the classes where I don't have any entries, or circle the classes where I do. Pay attention to what class they are bringing up, it can get really distracting when you are looking at all the neat stuff or visiting with other collectors, so it sometimes is easy to miss a class.

Hope this helps and have fun! Don't be afraid to try, it's really easy.
