Draw a Horse’s Head with Lines and Circles

Last month we played with lines. I hope all of you that joined us then have been using lines to create wonderful drawings and are ready to move on. This month we will make our lines work a little harder. If a line curves around till it grabs its tail, we call it a circle. Circles and lines can dance together and do much more than lines can do by themselves!

Since we all love horses, let's use lines and circles to make a horse's head. Follow the drawings below and see if you can make a horse.

Figure 2 shows us that we can put those circles in any spot and still create a horse's head.

But seriously, we really do use circles and lines to start drawing a horse. Our drawings are not perfect yet, but if we continue to practice and add to it, we will eventually learn to draw a real horse. Practice the lines and circles exercise now, and next month we will extend those lines and circles to do the entire horse!

I do some without skeletons, but I also find that doing the circles, like here, makes for an amazing picture too!!!

Most of the time I don't do skeletons.
I just sketch it. It looks SO much better
