It's ANOTHER Girl! Meet Sshampagne Kissess, born at 5 am!

Hay it's me Sshameless++ and I have more exciting news here!

Beautiful Mother and Daughter
Beautiful Mother and Daughter

We have ANOTHER Sshameless baby girl, and she's grey just like me.  Actually before I get carried away with all the proud Papa details, let me back track because Sshampagne Kissess snuck in on all of us!  She actually replicated the birth of her mom Hey Shooting Star, almost to the hour, as she arrived quietly without all the signs of a foal on the way.

Some 11 years ago, when Hey Shooting Star's arrival was eminent, Lisa slept in the barn for three nights, quietly tucked away in the grooming bay on an air mattress, she was on alert for the new foal's arrival.  As luck would have it, Jerry had a business trip and waited until the last possible moment to leave with still no foal.  That final night Lisa, once again huddled into her makeshift bed for the night, nestled within the restful sounds of soft nickers and paddling hooves as the horses slumbered in their deep shavings, the sounds of a barn tucked in for the night! At about 4 a.m. Lisa stole to the house, checking on the dogs, when she returned just 30 minutes later she found a beautiful new filly, Hey Shooting Star, curled in the straw, awaiting her human Lisa to help her up for her first nursing.

FAST FORWARD to 2013....
It had been a wonderful day watching my newest daughter Sseduction as she continued to win hearts of all who visited.  She reveled in her morning outings with her mom in the "big horse" arena.  This arena with its soft, sandy footing hosted mother and daughter as they were turned out together every morning for a few hours so Sseduction could stretch her beautiful long legs.  This arena is also my work arena and had been the site of serious work just two months prior as Lisa and I prepared to present the American Flag at the World's largest Arabian horse show, the Scottsdale Arabian Show in February.

But this day was a day like every other.  No telltale signs that a foal was eminent.  Nothing seemed to be moving ahead for Hey Shooting Star, our next expectant mother.  No waxing, no milk dripping, no significant body changes.  Everyone thought, "Maybe the next Sshameless foal will be born tomorrow or the next day.  Certainly nothing is happening today or tonight."

However, Lisa continued her nightly pilgrimage, watching the stall cameras from her computer.  Once again, after a night and early morning of monitoring, all seemed quiet and as of 4 a.m. Hey Shooting Star was quiet, appearing to be sleeping as she stood with a hip resting along her stall wall.   Another night, without the anticipated foal's arrival.  But at least a few hours of sleep could be had by the humans in the house, now not needing to be on alert.  Oh, if only Lisa would have thought back to the birth of Hey Shooting Star 11 years prior, it was all so familiar...had she thought about it!

surprise
Surprise!

At 5:30 a.m. Lisa's cell phone rang and Daniel asked if Lisa would like to come meet the newest Sshameless foal....a daughter.  Daniel had just heard a noise in the barn, checked the stall camera and saw a tiny bundle, waiting to meet the world.

Lisa and Jerry sprinted to the barn to meet the newest member of our Sshameless family. Soon, as Daniel and Lisa started drying her with hand towels, everyone realized that this beautiful, delicate, feminine package would be a grey filly.  And what a grey filly she is!  She is very, very refined and delicate.  She is like a porcelain doll and can walk right under her Mom's belly without a blink of an eye.  She is definitely a Mama's girl and sticks very close to her mom, whereas her sister Sseduction is very bold and enjoys the attention of her human family.  When I describe her as grey, she is actually red but has white hairs sprinkled across her body.  (I was very red when I was born and had only a few white hairs around my eyes.) Everyone is so surprised at how much white hair she has for a newborn and we are all expecting her to turn grey very fast.  Most horses take about five years to grey out, we are betting Sshampagne Kissess will be grey in a year.  In the first few days, her eyes have gotten larger and I have heard visitors say that she will be the spitting image of me Sshameless but in a very feminine version.  She is beautiful.

Time
Hey Shooting Star with her newborn Waiting to meet the world Time to get up!

As the foaling went, Hey Shooting Star is not a novice, this was her third foal and she was a champ.  Lisa and Daniel handled all the ministrations deftly.  In no time, Lisa, Jerry and Daniel had my most recent beautiful girl's needs taken care of, and with her nursing like a champ, hay was given to all the horses and the barn was officially shut down until 8 a.m. so we all, horses and humans, could experience some greatly needed rest.  Foal watch is tiring on not just humans, we horses take it very seriously.  Between Hey Miste America being a week late and Hey Shooting Star being a week early, the entire SKY Ranch family has been busy.

I described Sshampagne Kissess as shy but within just a few days it became very obvious that this is a personality to be reckoned with...she is bold but loving.  She loves attention (she is a Sshameless daughter!).  She loves adoration and kisses, her name was an easy one....Sshampagne reflecting what will be a very beautiful, white color and Kissess recognizing her love of attention.

Even though my two foals Sseduction and Sshampagne Kissess live next to each other with their moms, it will be a couple of weeks before they are turned out together.  I'll report how all goes with the introduction.  For right now, Sseduction and Sshampagne Kissess watch each other attentively but Hey Miste America and Hey Shooting Star are protective and do a good job of keeping the foals from getting too friendly between their turnout fences.  I have a feeling that will change quickly.

Grey Girl!

I'll have a lot to keep you apprised of ... the first meeting and shortly after that, we'll all be heading to SKY Ranch in Northern Arizona where we spend most of the summer, out of the heat, and with acres of pasture for grazing and play.  It is a beautiful place but to get there the foals and moms will take their first trailer ride together.  It's about a three hour haul and I'm sure there will be great stories to share with you.  The first trailer ride is certainly a major milestone so I'll look forward to letting you know how that goes and the special preparations we take to make sure the foals, and all the horses, are safe.

Ssincerely PROUD PAPA of TWO Beautiful Fillies!

FOALS!

I LOVE THEM! Breyer should make both moms and fillies in the nuzzling mom and newborn foal mold. I know what they are called but I can't remember how to type it. I love both horses! Congrates by the way shameless! sorry I spelled it wrong.

Make Breyers

You should make breyer models of those 2 mares and the 2 fillys! That would be cool!
