This morning we met a vendor who’s hoping BreyerFest fans might find their ‘Holy Grail’ among what she is offering for sale. This afternoon we are spotlighting an artist that has been painting and stashing away many custom surprises for BreyerFest lovers!
Meet - Caroline Sigwalt of Horse Heaven Studios!
Born and raised in Iowa, Caroline has had horses in her life since she was born. Her mom raised Arabians for a lone time and sure enough, Caroline was on the back of her first pony by three years old. Many horses have passed through Caroline’s life and she has done everything from western pleasure to jumping, but her favorite is running barrels, currently with her horse Diesel. Horses have always been a big part of her life and she always thought it was cool that people could paint models to portray their favorite horses. She says the love of real horses is what makes the model horse hobby so strong. And she is so happy to be apart of it.
Caroline paints Breyer models, custom resins, and medallions. Her favorite media to work with are acrylics, oils, earth pigments, and pastels. Aside from painting and sculpting her own, she supports a lot of different new artists by purchasing their newly-released sculptures, and helps them with tips and tricks on how to improve their techniques. She is thrilled about how the hobby has evolved and is always amazed by new artists and some of the incredible things they create. Personally, Caroline loves seeing her old work compared to her more recent creations. Growth in her skills and abilities is what inspires her to keep going!
Caroline heard about BreyerFest through Breyer’s website and became really interested in it in 2013 for the Denim & Diamonds theme. The next year, 2014, she attended in person and then again in 2020 for the online celebration of BreyerFest: Celtic Fling. She is very excited to showcase her work to Breyer fans during the Artisans’ Gallery. She will have a mixed variety for sale on her website – something for everyone. Can’t wait until July? Check out her amazing work here.
