With three weeks till BreyerFest we wanted to go over some general event guidelines and tips so guests can be ready to enjoy the weekend! If you are a newcomer to BreyerFest or even if it’s your 33rd time, please be sure to flip through the From the Horse’s Mouth Guide to BreyerFest on BreyerHorses.com. This guide will help you plan your experience so that you don’t miss any of the amazing activities offered by Breyer! Click here to access the First Timer’s Guide!
Keep reading for some helpful tips straight from the Breyer Events Team so you can get the most out of your BreyerFest experience!
- There are FIVE Help Desk locations throughout BreyerFest. These friendly BreyerFest experts know everything about BreyerFest and are happy to answer any questions you might have. The location by our giant inflatable horse FLUFFY is also the LOST AND FOUND area.
- Breyer staff are in MAROON polo shirts and have walkie-talkies. If you need help, ask!
- Horses have the right of way! Please be alert to horses moving to and from the Covered Arena and elsewhere on the grounds, and use good judgment. Do not walk directly behind horses, run up to them, or startle them in any way! Please be sure to review these precautions with your children as well. The barns are accessible and you are welcome to visit at any time during the weekend to see the horses and chat with their owners. Always ask first before petting a horse! Please listen to the horse owners’ instructions – they are for your safety.
- Leave no trace. Recycle and deposit all your trash into the many receptacles provided.
- Dogs. We love them, too, but we ask that you please leave your furry friend at home! If you must bring your dog, please be sure to keep it on a leash at all times, bring plenty of water for them to drink, and bring baggies to clean up after them. Do not leave your pets in your car or the Kentucky Horse Park Police will be notified.
- Temperatures vary widely! Be prepared and dress appropriately. Good closed toe walking shoes are a must! Drink plenty of water! Food is available for purchase on site, or you may bring your own. Lunch time is the busiest time of day for our food vendors, so plan ahead!
- Emergency Procedures. If someone is hurt or you have lost someone, don’t panic! Find a Breyer Staff member immediately. We have EMTs as well as the Kentucky Horse Park Police on the grounds at all times. If you cannot find a Breyer staff member, call 911.
- If you need assistance and can’t be on your feet all day, BreyerFest partners with ScootAround to offer guests scooter and wheelchair rentals. These can be shipped directly to your home or hotel, but users are responsible for getting them to the KHP. The KHP does not offer on-site scooter or wheelchair rentals, so if you need assistance, we recommend you take advantage of this service.
- Need a break from the sun? Take advantage of our FREE seminars and EQUUS Films, located in the air conditioned Visitor Information Center, running all weekend long! Misting fans are also set up in many of the tents to help keep guests cool.

- Make your own schedule. There is a LOT to do at BreyerFest and some activities do overlap. Be sure you didn’t accidentally register for workshops that are happening at the same time. Most free activities are offered several times over the course of the weekend so map out your scheduled activities FIRST.
- Expect a bit of a line near the Ticket Booth/Will Call (main entrance into BreyerFest) in the early morning for those looking to make the BreyerFest Stores their first stop. After 9:30 am there is generally no line for admission into BreyerFest, but the BreyerFest Stores will be busy for the morning hours.
- Bags larger than a Traditional-sized model (approximately 10”) are not permitted in either of the BreyerFest Stores. This includes rolling bags of all sizes, wagons, duffel bags, large purses or tote bags, backpacks, and all shopping bags. For your convenience, there is a bag check location right outside the Walnut Schooling Ring. Please check your bag before you shop.
- Avoid stress and the heat by taking advantage of the free shuttle service offered by BreyerFest.
- Remember to take in the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park while you’re there! The KHP boasts the International Museum of the Horse and the fantastic breeds barn, which are included with your tickets!
Don’t forget to relax, have fun, and enjoy your vacation!

Hello there,
My family and I are traveling with our 19 pound cockapoo. Very very very good dog. My understanding is that although you would prefer to not have dogs IF we must take her that we can as long as we obey this policy…“Dogs. We love them, too, but we ask that you please leave your furry friend at home! If you must bring your dog, please be sure to keep it on a leash at all times, bring plenty of water for them to drink, and bring baggies to clean up after them. Do not leave your pets in your car or the Kentucky Horse Park Police will be notified.” found at https://www.breyerhorses.com/blogs/breyerfest-blog/breyerfest-tips?pos=1&_sid=ed4414ef1&ss=r
Is this still correct?
Also…as an alternative. Are there any doggie daycare places you’d recommend who will take good care of our precious dog?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
The Bernard Family
