Earlier this week we looked at the high end of the Live Auction lots so today let’s look at some of the more interesting lots that we’ve had over the years.
In the first ever BreyerFest Auction there were a few items that are a little unusual compared to today’s models. Among them were quite a few Misty II items including a brush, a shoe, and a couple of rides on Misty II herself. In terms of models, a handsome Angus bull sold for $80 – we bet our animal and bull lovers are shocked at the price!
In 1994 a few of our lucky bidders were able to walk away with three prototype dressage saddles, which sold for around $100 each. We hope they were put to good use!
BreyerFest 2000 saw the introduction of the standard amount of 28 lots that we still have today – of course there have been some exceptions over the years! And the following year we saw a lot that still makes us chuckle to this day, the ‘When Pigs Fly’ Jasper Market Hog with extra special wings, which sold for $750.
Although it wasn’t a huge sale and was certainly subject to personal preference we still adore the glow in the dark Elk complete with Harry Potter book that sold in 2007 (the year the last book in the series came out).
We’ve been on a bit of an animal kick with this Blog post so we might as well mention the sweet Brighty model that kicked off our BreyerFest British Invasion Live Auction in 2012. This little guy was a Mahogany pinto with custom British Beach Donkey halter and sold for $1,000.
Finally, our Blue Tiger Ruffian model was one of those unforgettable decorators and was featured at BreyerFest Gateway to India. This exceptional model sold for $3,200 and went roaring into someone’s herd!
Over the years, our Live Auctions have featured lots of different shapes and sizes – mares and foals, pigs, bulls, decorators, and amazing real patterns. Every single lot has a special place in our heart has each item has helped us raise over $1,200,000 for our Breyer Beneficiaries. A pretty amazing feat if we do say so ourselves. We couldn’t have done it without our loyal Breyer fans and collectors!
Thank you, from the bottoms of our hearts.
We promise the 30th anniversary Live Auction will be extra special and we can’t wait for you to see all of the amazing lots.
Comments will be approved before showing up.
