If you’ve got a copy (or ever used one as a reference) of the 5th edition of the Breyer Animal Collector’s Guide, then you’re already familiar with these ladies, who literally wrote the book on collecting – Kelly Weimer and Kelly Keracher!
Kelly Weimer (right) has been collecting Breyer models since 1978 when she received her first model – the palomino Family Arabian Stallion – and has amassed a collection of about 2,500 models over the years. She’s been a fixture at the BreyerFest Children’s and Youth Show since 2003, where she’s been a steward and a judge and worked tirelessly to help educate and support the next generation of model horse collectors and enthusiasts. She has also contributed to Just About Horses’ “Vantage Point” for a number of years. This summer’s celebration of Horse of a Different Color marks her 24th BreyerFest and she couldn’t be more excited!
Kelly Keracher (left) has been collecting since she was 7 and the model that got her hooked was the black appaloosa running stallion. In addition to her co-authorship of the Breyer Animal Collector Guide, Kelly has been an avid model horse shower and judge since 1990. Her collection consists of mostly vintage models and some of her favorite molds to collect include the Semi-Rearing Mustang and the Cleveland Bay. Kelly is thrilled for this summer’s celebration of Horse of a Different Color as a lover of decorator models and can’t wait to participate. The ladies co-own a real horse together, a palomino American Saddlebred gelding.
BreyerFest is delighted to be hosting Kelly and Kelly, live at Breyer HQ during BreyerFest weekend, where they will be touring the Breyer Archive Room for key collector finds, answering fan questions, and getting quizzed by BreyerFest fans! You will not want to miss this! More information on these live segments will be released soon!
