We are so excited to bring back the fan-favorite BreyerFest Costume Contest! Participation in the contest is open to (and free for) VIP and All-Access ticket holders and, like the Diorama Contest, the Costume Contest theme ties into the BreyerFest theme in some way. Each year, participants think of fun and creative ways to bring the theme to life, and we cannot wait to see what entrants come up with this year! And, the best part of this year’s contest is that you don’t need to worry about getting Alltech Arena sand in your shoes!
With this year’s BreyerFest focused on color and art we are thrilled to announce the theme for this summer’s BreyerFest Costume Contest – Living Art.
Participants in this year’s Living Art Costume Contest are invited to create a costume that is inspired by a work of art. The work you select as the inspiration for your costume must be a part of the public domain or open access collections of the three selected source sites, but can be any media or any time period. Your costume does not need to be an exact replica of the original artwork, but when compared side-by-side, it should be clear that your selected work was the inspiration for your costume entry.
Entrants must select a work that is Public Domain/Open Access from one of the three provided source sites. You can watch our quick video explaining this here.
Participants must include a direct link to the original art piece they were inspired by for reference with their entry. This year’s contest is open only to All-Access and VIP All-Access ticket holders. All entries must be of just the entrant - no group entries permitted – and on a plain background (a background cannot be a component of your costume). Complete rules and information on how to enter can be found here.
This handy checklist should help get you started:

Quick question – are we allowed to have a Breyer model horse in our costume contest entry?
