BreyerFest is all about sharing our mutual love of the art of the model horse and for our first Artisans’ Gallery spotlight, we are featuring Jody Jones of Begin Again Studio!
Though this is Jody’s second year in the BreyerFest Artisans’ Gallery, she’s been attending BreyerFest since 2016 and has been drawing and painting since childhood. Forever seeking to deepen her knowledge of the art of the horse, her model horse painting is entirely self-taught and she finds constant inspiration from both the people and the models in the hobby she loves.
Jody’s love of horses began as a toddler, when she first rode a horse at 18 months old, and she has been riding (and in love) ever since. She spent 40 years training horses as her career and began her life painting and customizing models after her retirement to satisfy her “horse fix.” This love of horses influences her work in every way possible, from the mechanics of their movement to their dynamic features.
Jody maintains an active presence on social media and has recently started photo showing her models – though nothing beats the thrill of live showing and she looks forward to being back in the show hall as soon as she can be.
From her studio in Indiana, she is looking forward to offering BreyerFest guests a great variety of custom Breyer models and artist resins. She can be found online here and will be featured amongst this summer’s artists in the BreyerFest: Horse of a Different Color virtual Artisans’ Gallery.
