We are so excited that so many talented artists are joining us for this year’s Artisans’ Gallery. This morning we are introducing you to an artist who is selling for the first time after having so much fun during last year’s BreyerFest: Celtic Fling, which was celebrated virtually!
Meet Callie Guyer of Flying Horse Studios!
Mention anything about horses and Callie is ready to tell you all she knows! She’s always had a passion for animals and was especially drawn to horses. Going to the Scottsdale Arabian Horse show every year, watching horse movies, or taking her very first riding lessons were some of the activities that drew her in even more! Early in Callie’s model horse journey, she watched and created a lot of content on YouTube. It was there she came across a few BreyerFest videos and learned what it was about! This year will be her second year attending and first year selling!
An avid photographer, she also enjoys photographing wild horses, horses at local shows, and of course – her models! After finding the customizing community online, she was inspired by the many works of art she came across and wanted to try it herself. That inspiration from other customizers along with her passion for art led her to etch her first model!
Residing in sunny Arizona, Callie perfected and refined her techniques and she ultimately created Flying Horse Studios, where she could connect with other hobbyists and artists! She is constantly inspired by the natural world around her. She enjoys taking patterns or colors from animals other than horses and transferring them onto her pieces. She loves bright colors and is always questioning if a unique color or pattern she encounters would look good on a model! Callie loves how diverse the artists in the model horse hobby are; from sculptors to tack makers to finish work to photographers, there is something for everyone. It’s an amazing community with so many exciting avenues and ways to express the love of horses!
Callie is very excited about this year’s theme Horse of a Different Color and will be releasing some exiting pieces that she says correlate to the theme. She also has some wild decorators planned! Keep an eye out for Flying Horse Studios and check her out here!
