It is Monday of BreyerFest week here at HQ and we are getting ready to bring you the biggest BreyerFest yet! With guests and fans joining us from around the country and around the world, we are thrilled to be beaming BreyerFest straight into your air conditioned homes!
Our penultimate artist hardly needs an introduction, since her recent Fireheart model was just released.
Meet – Rayvin Maddock of Khrysalis Studios!
Rayvin joined us virtually in February for Breyer Boot Camp and has been to in-person BreyerFest just once, in 2015. She joined in our virtual celebration in 2020 and is looking forward to getting to meet more fans this weekend during her LIVE Zoom Meet & Greet on Saturday and her LIVE Zoom workshop on Sunday. Rayvin has also contributed two pre-recorded workshops, in addition to being a part of this summer’s Artisans’ Gallery – which she is participating in for the first time.
Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, she spent her childhood dreaming about horses and drawing. It was not until much later in life that she got into sculpture and started customizing Breyer models. She learned how to pastel and oil paint from a friend and the rest is model horse history.
Today, Rayvin finds her inspiration both in the beauty of the equine form and in the collaborative nature of the model horse artist community. She feels there is no place like it – where you can be inspired by other artists to take their work and make it your own creation. It is this sense of collaboration that she hopes to pass on to the next generation of artists through her tutorials and as a model horse show judge.
Rayvin’s great-grandparents raised Appaloosas and she always found horses as a great way to escape reality, whether she was reading about them, drawing them, or visiting them on the ranch.
This weekend at BreyerFest, as a part of her Artisans’ Gallery showcase, Rayvin is looking forward to showcasing her new resins and medallions, as well as some custom models. If you can’t wait just a few short days to see her work BreyerFest weekend, you can find it here.
