Looking forward to her third BreyerFest experience in the Artisans’ Gallery (and her third BreyerFest) this next artist brings performance showing to a whole new level. Her incredible tack is so detailed that even here at HQ we were in awe.
Meet – Hanna Bear of Bear Carousel!
From her studio in Illinois, Hanna finds that she is most inspired by hardworking and gritty horses, and their people, and says the blood sweat and years of these dedicated teams is the backbone of her art. She’s been drawing since she could hold a crayon, she remarked, but as she’s grown as an artist, so have her preferred techniques and media.
Her absolute favorite part of being involved in the model horse hobby, she says, is it’s accessibility - so many various levels of skill, interest, and ability are invited – from the casual collector to the hardcore customizer. As a performance shower, Hanna enjoys getting to showcase several of her pieces together in a scene, bringing to life the world of the hardworking cowboy. She also enjoys the camaraderie of showing, the energy of the show hall, and the long days spent beside fellow hobbyists.
Though she did not grow up in a “horsey” family, from the moment she first laid eyes on one, she was absolutely hooked. She appreciates how horses have opinions and body language, and are able to communicate their feelings through their physicality, and Hanna strives to capture this expressive nature in her work.
For this summer’s BreyerFest Artisans’ Gallery, Hanna is looking forward to showcasing her first resin sculpt to fans, as well as offering a fun lineup of medallions, painted pieces, and customs. She’s got a couple of surprises for fans, as well! Until BreyerFest, you can find her work here!
We’ve got another artist spotlight coming your way this afternoon, so check back on the BreyerFest Blog for that reveal later.
