In honor of our 30th anniversary we wanted to look back at a few of the people that have been helping us along the way.
The first person we would like to talk about is Val Starcher who you might recognize from our workshops or her booth, Walkabout Farm, in the Covered Arena Vendor Marketplace. Val and her husband Gary have been vendors at BreyerFest for the past 20 years but their history goes back even further as they attended all 29 of the previous events!
At the first event in 1990, Val’s love of BreyerFest began when she learned that others enjoyed the model horse hobby and collecting Breyer models as much as she did. Since then BreyerFest has gotten better every year according to Val. A sentiment we certainly agree with!
Val has been teaching the Etching workshop over the past 4 years and has gotten rave reviews from all of our students over the years! You can read more about the Etching workshop and sign up here. Val mentioned that her favorite part of teaching the workshop is ‘’seeing so many talented adults and children who will be in the hobby for generations to come’’.
We also asked Val what she was most looking forward to at our 30th anniversary celebration and she said ‘’We have been lucky enough to see kids grow up and are now bring their kids to Breyerfest … we have customers from all over the country coming to our booth to say hello.’’ Make sure you stop by booth Walkabout Farm to say hello to Val and her husband Gary.
We wanted to leave you with one final quote from Val – ‘’when you have loved this hobby for all (of) my 65 years BreyerFest is special each year’’. We couldn’t agree more!
