For this week’s Vendor Marketplace spotlight, we are so excited to introduce fans to an author who looks forward to introducing BreyerFest fans to her novel trilogy that was recently completed!
Meet – Susan Abel!
This is Susan’s first time ever attending or selling at BreyerFest, which she learned about from some of her students that have been attending the event for several years. We are thrilled to welcome her to this summer's Horse of a Different Color Celebration!
Susan grew up outside of Detroit, but calls Atlanta, Georgia home these days. It is from this home base where she combines her two passions of horses and writing. Susan has been involved with both real horses and model horses nearly her whole life. She received her first Breyer model for her 8th birthday, and only a few short years later purchased her first real horse at the age of 13!
She continues this tradition by purchasing Breyer models for her grandchildren to keep them involved in and inspired by the hobby she loves. Susan definitely believes her love of horses is genetic. Her grandfather was a jockey and thoroughbred breeder and this generational love inspires her to continue to tell the stories of amazing connections between horses and humans.
This summer at BreyerFest, Susan is thrilled to introduce fans to her equestrian-inspired trilogy (the final installment of which was just recently completed) that combines romance and suspense. Susan will be a part of this summer’s Marketplace, but in the meantime, you can learn more about her work here!

Looking forward to checking out the book series. And nice Akita! I’m an Akita person and currently have a 12-year old male.

Susan is a wonderful author, horsewoman, and all around amazing person! It is no exaggeration when I say my life was changed for the better when she became my riding instructor years ago.
Her books provide the horse loving and equi-educated reader real and relatable characters and situations that isn’t the over used ‘crazy horse girl’ trope. It’s about time we had stories like hers!
