One of the great things about BreyerFest is fans being able to flex their creative muscles by participating in some incredible workshops taught by some of the most talented model horse artists and hobbyists. Ranging in topic from flat art to tack making to sculpting, BreyerFest has something for everyone!
We will be revealing the FULL in-person BreyerFest workshop schedule and offerings in a few weeks, but we wanted to give our VIP ticket holders a special preview of what will be available for them! These sessions capture every area of the hobby, so our VIPs have an awesome selection of topics to choose from.
Performance
Kicking off the weekend on Friday morning, Laura Lott will be hosting her session on making 1:12 scale road carts. Geared towards advanced students, Laura will teach our VIP participants how to construct their very own Freedom Series scale road cart. Constructed out of wood and wire, and completed with your own personal finishing touches, these simple carts are the perfect accessory for your Freedom Series horses.
Kicking off Saturday morning, German artist Vincent Lange will be joining us once again to give you an introduction into creating water effects on bases and dioramas for your model horses. Each attendee will be given a Freedom Series-scale model and Vincent will take you through creating a beach scene complete with waves and splash effects caused by the movement of the horse. You are also at liberty to customize the model afterwards to create an entirely unique scene. Dive down deep into the magic of water effects to make your model horse stand out from the crowd!
Tack Making
Friday afternoon, this workshop hosted by expert tack maker Kristian Beverly, will teach students to make a commemorative Celebration Horse Halter that says "BreyerFest 2023." This workshop is targeted towards students who have made a few halters already and understand the basics of halter -making. In this workshop you’ll be building upon those skills to make a halter that resembles a real-life nameplate halter. Attendees will be able to take these new skills home to personalize every piece of tack they make!
Flat Art
Rounding out Friday afternoon, adult VIP ticket holders can close out their first day of BreyerFest with our fan-favorite Pinots & Pintos Painting session. Open to adults 21 and over only, you can enjoy a glass of wine and relax as Laura Thomson guides you through this fun painting project. Prepped canvases and wine will be provided for attendees.
Sculpting
Saturday afternoon, Breyer artist Morgen Kilbourn will work with advanced students to take their sculpting to the next level. Working on the finer details of sculpting a horse’s head, Morgen will walk participants through the intricacies of adding layers and detail to your sculptures. Morgen will cast miniature horse skulls that will be provided for participants to work on.
Etching
Spend your Sunday morning with the brilliant mind behind Breyer’s Traditional scale Halloween horses! Work alongside artist Lauren Hoeffer to learn how to etch your model in the decorator style! All participants will receive a Freedom Series-scale model horse to try their etching skills on. Due to the use of sharp objects, this workshop is limited to intermediate to advanced students with VIP tickets – adults and older teens only.
The complete schedule for all sessions, including VIP classes, will be released in a few weeks. All in-person workshop sessions range in price from $35 to $45. If you haven’t purchased your VIP ticket to BreyerFest yet, you can do so here! You’ll need to be a BreyerFest VIP if you’d like to sign up for any of these awesome sessions.

Advanced means you are familiar with the workshop and/or activity and know how to work the tool used. For example, if you wanted to do etching, you should know how to work the knife thing.

Hi! Can someone please explain the different levels of Advanced-ness? I have the VIP ticket and would love to try some of these. I have never done any of these things, but it sounds really fun to me.
Comments will be approved before showing up.

Can my daughter sign up for workshops when we get to the festival? We noticed a lot of the workshops are full when we tried to sign up online. She has a VIP pass.
Thanks!
