Whether it’s your first time at BreyerFest or your 30th, we know that everyone could always use a few tips straight from the proverbial "horse’s mouth" to make sure their experience at BreyerFest is a great one. We have a lot of changes in store this year to keep things running smoothly for everyone, but we also have many tried and true tips and tricks that have worked for us year after year. So let’s get started!
New this year
Schedule changes
- The BreyerFest Costume Contest will be held on Friday, July 12th at 6 pm at the Alltech Arena. Please arrive in the South Expo Hall by 5:30 pm to receive your number.
- The BreyerFest Live Auction will be held on Saturday, July 13th at 5:30 pm in the Hall of Champions. Please arrive by 5 pm to pick up your bid card.
Location changes
- The workshops will be held in the historic Big Barn, which is on the other side of the Special Run tent and Hall of Champions.
- Our Celebration Horse, Oliver, will be stabled in the KHP Police Horse Barn, not in Barn 7 with the rest of our guest horses. He will still be signing autographs at the Autographs Tent by barn 7 as usual.
-
Celebration Models will be available for pick up at both the model handout window at the south end of the Covered Arena or during your Special Run Tent ticket time. There is no separate line for Celebration Model Pick Up at the Special Run Tent. Plan to pick up Oliver during your Special Run time or stop by the Covered Arena any other time during the weekend.
Shuttle Buses
- As BreyerFest grows each year, we want to make sure guests are able to get to where they need to go. We’ve expanded our shuttle bus services for 2019! A guide to all three BreyerFest shuttle loops is available here. Rest assured that this year we’ve added additional shuttles around the KHP. We have also added evening shuttle loops throughout the weekend to all our partner hotels in Lexington. Parking at the Clarion is very tight. If you are planning to visit BreyerFest After Dark, please take advantage of the shuttles!
If you’re new to BreyerFest, here is a list of all the fun, FREE activities that are included with your three-day ticket:
- Visit the Craft and Activity Tent for Breyer Stablemates painting all weekend long! While you’re there you can also see a magic show, learn how to juggle, or get your face painted with our friends from the Cincinnati Circus!
- Check out the all-day, all-breed equine performances in the Covered Arena. In addition to being home to thousands of model horses, BreyerFest also hosts hundreds of real horses who can’t wait to strut their stuff for you.
- After you’ve seen the performances, head on over to the stables to meet these amazing horses in real life! Snap a photo with your Breyer model and the real horse that inspired it!
-
Celebration Park has tons to offer! This area is home to our pony rides, Kids Jumping competition, CollectA Dino Dig, the SuperDogs Waterbark show, an interactive Civil War Reenactment Camp, the carousel, and more of our friends from the Cincinnati Circus – they’ll be doing hula hooping, face painting, and death-defying aerials tricks!
- Stop by the Hands-on Hobby Booth to learn more about the model horse hobby from experts!
- BreyerFest offers free seminars all weekend long in the Visitor Information Center. Check out the schedule here for more information.
- You can enter the Diorama Contest too, although it does require a bit of planning ahead of time! There is a very timely ‘Salute to BreyerFest’ theme this year and we are looking forward to seeing everyone’s entries!
- See the many attractions offered at the Kentucky Horse Park. Included in your three-day admission is entry to the International Museum of the Horse, the Kids Barn, the American Saddlebred Museum, and the Visitor Center.
And don’t forget about the BreyerFest 5k Race taking place on Sunday morning. You can sign up here, and there is also a Virtual race for those runners (or walkers!) who can’t make it to BreyerFest. The race is raising money for Old Friends.
