Percheron | Breyer Breeds
As with any ancient race, the origin of the Percheron breed is shrouded in myth, for the foundations of the breed precede extensive documentation, and certainly pedigrees, by several centuries. Usually gray or black in color, Percherons are well muscled, and known for their intelligence and willingness to work.
This French draft horse was imported into the United States in the 1800s. Americans discovered the usefulness of this draft horse. And other Americans discovered the pleasure of working with them at non-farm tasks, welcoming them to the horse shows and the growing recreation businesses.
One of the most famous horse teams in the United States is the hitch of Percherons that has appeared multiple times at the Tournament of Roses Parade.
