BreyerFest British Invasion – Filled with Great Fun and Firsts!

Screen shot of the BreyerFest app

We had a blast at BreyerFest, and we hope you all did, too! This was a big year for BreyerFest, full of firsts and improvements! Jaime Potkalesky, Breyer's Promotional Events Manager says of the event, "BreyerFest British Invasion was tremendous! Record breaking crowds full of new collectors brought a whole new energy to the event. We continually challenge ourselves to keep BreyerFest fresh and new. This year, we pushed ourselves even further and made some big changes to the weekend and added more ways for guests to get involved with the hobby and BreyerFest in general. We think the new elements really paid off and hope our fans did too!"

Breyer's very first iPhone app, designed by artist and app developer Kira Hamilton, featured the schedule of events, maps of Lexington and BreyerFest venues, photos of the models and more! Also on the technology front, the event program was posted online in a flappable format before the event. For Breyer fans that couldn't make it to BreyerFest this year, they had the opportunity to participate in special raffles for the exclusive British theme items, so everyone could get in on the fun!

In the Covered Arena, large television monitors showed the daily schedule of events and entertainers, as well as Live Auction models and Special Runs, making it easy for visitors to plan their day! The Best of the British Display Contest was set up in a new location - the alcove - allowing for more room to show off everyone's amazing work! Folks also paraded around the arena showing off their handiwork in the hair fascinator contest!

Outside, kids and families enjoyed the newly redesigned the Piccadilly Circus Arena (craft & activity area). The sculpting workshop was moved inside, and the Hands-On Hobby Tent moved in! With the larger space, guests could try their hand at different aspects of the hobby while chatting with other hobbyists! The expanded craft tent featured a theater for Kentucky Shakespeare's interactive performances, the Amazing Portable Circus, and of course, Stablemates painting! Guests appreciated the increased seating area in the shade by the concessions. Another fun addition to this area was the Bit of British pop-up store! This store featured exclusive British-themed models and products, and added a second Breyer shopping location!

Due to high demand and the ever-growing popularity of Breyer YouTube videos, a brand new videography workshop was added! Led by none other than Breyer YouTube sensation, Amy Davies, better known by her YouTube handle, Cinnamon Mew Mew! Davies' videos have garnered her nearly 5 million views! She traveled all the way from Wales, UK for the occasion, and seminar attendees enjoyed learning about video techniques, and also got to be the first to see the lastest episode of Cinnamon Mew Mew's Conquering Tides. In addition to all of the wonderful entertainment and activities going on daily, Saturday's BreyerFest attendees were treated to a demonstration of England's national sport, cricket, by Kentucky United!

The Live Auction was moved to Friday night at the Hall of Champions, where everyone had a great view of the action due to the circular-shape of the seating area! This year's auction set a new record, and the funds raised help support the 2012 BreyerFest beneficiaries: PATH International, 4H Eastern Western Round-Ups, Equine Land Conservation Resource, and The Maker's Mark Secretariat Center.

On Saturday night, BreyerFest attendees were treated to the first concert ever held in the Alltech Arena! Brit Beat, America's Premier Tribute to the Beatles, put on an awesome show that rocked the house! Free for three-day ticket holders, the concert also featured the Poppycock Parade, where guests dressed as their favorite British characters.

BritBeat rocks the house!

We can't wait to "wow" you all again next year at BreyerFest Denim & Diamonds!

Breyer is so good at topping themselves every year!! I thought I'd go just a few times, but it is a tradition now. This was number 9 for me. I sure hope I can make it in 2013.
Thank you Breyer, Stephanie and all that put BreyerFest together!

Competing with the likes of your work, i don't think i could ever win! :) Wow, sweeties, we have only been going half as many years as you, but we had as much fun, i'm sure! Planning on going all the years to come, too! LOVE Breyerfest!!

Well I had a lot of fun and added some great models to my collection, such as Red Rock and Roxy! However, I had some issues...the people there handing out tickets were not at all nice...and what was the deal with Taskin? I wanted him so badly, however I guess Breyer ran out of the celebration horse and started giving Taskin away in place of Miriah's Boon?! What's up with this? Taskin was sold out in the special run line by the time I got there, and they refused to sell us one there by the gate! I am very upset about this because 1) I looked forward to Taskin very much 2) it's not right that they started giving him away in place of the celebration horse and 3) I heard other people saying how long they waited in line for him but he was sold out because they were giving him away. I'm wondering if anybody else had these problems.
However I did have fun despite all that and I thank Breyer for having it again this year!

Costume contest pics?

I'd sure love to see pics from the costume contest! I only got one photo of Hubby and I in costume, and it wasn't great... Would love to see if you have a better one of us. We were the Werewolves of London. We had a blast all weekend! It was our first Breyerfest, and *Hubby* is already looking into reservations for next year (and he's not even the collector!).

My first and loved it!

Way to go Breyer! I've been collecting for many years and it was a dream come true going to Kentucky Breyerfest!
Crouds were BIG and lines were long but Breyer crew and visitors were very commidating and helpful and (to me) everything seemed to have ran pretty smoothly and I enjoyed myself very much!
I'll be back next year for sure with my BLING! ;)
