Jamie Rott and Liz Cory

Jamie Rott has been involved in the hobby since the late 1990’s, but she has been collecting Breyer horses ever since she could remember. Collecting, showing, and attending Breyerfest is a pastime that Jamie shares with her family, especially her mom, Yvonne, and daughter, Emily. Jamie currently resides in Illinois with her daughter, husband, and dog (a little Toto!)!

For Jamie, sharing the hobby and what it can offer is a passion. Jamie has been President of Great Lakes Congress, Inc. (GLC) since 2007. GLC is a 501(c)(3) educational not-for-profit created to teach adults and youth about horses and horsemanship, using model horses. GLC hosts between six to eight live shows each year where you will see Jamie helping at the front desk (hostess) or judging! GLC also reaches out through a monthly photo show, enabling people of all ages to join in the model horse fun. In addition, Jamie teaches various workshops at Breyerfest! Her workshops have ranged from learning to live show, pasteling, watercolor painting, to wooden board painting.

Some fun facts about Jamie: She is a Licensed Professional Engineer (Civil Engineer) in Illinois and is the first female Water Superintendent in Rockford, IL’s 100+ year history.

Liz Isham Cory started collecting model horses in 1962. It wasn’t long before she found the small, but growing community of model horse collectors, and her passion took off. Liz was involved in many of the hobby’s earliest moments, including the first live shows (Model Horse Congress). She was the first collector Editor of Breyer’s Just About Horses magazine. Today, she is the Treasurer of Great Lakes Congress, Inc., where she takes a special delight in introducing kids and adults to the hobby that has given her a lifetime of memories. Liz is a BreyerFest instructor, where she teaches showing, photography and model horse valuation workshops.

Liz is a former television anchor, news reporter, videographer and radio talk host. She is a published author, focusing on antiques and collectibles. She has written extensively about Breyer horses for numerous magazines. She has a long history in public relations and marketing, and she is the former President of the Illinois Society of Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations. Today, she is a senior media relations specialist for the Federal Aviation Administration, where she has earned numerous awards for excellence in communications campaigns.
