About The Strong National Museum of Play
Located in Rochester, NY, The Strong is a highly interactive, collections-based museum devoted to the history and exploration of play. It is one of the largest history museums in the United States and one of the leading museums serving families. The Strong houses the world's largest and most comprehensive collection of historical materials related to play. Its multifaceted array of research, exhibits, and other interpretive and educational activities serve a diverse audience of adults, families, children, students, teachers, scholars, collectors, and others around the globe.
About The Hall of Fame
The National Toy Hall of Fame® at The Strong, established in 1998, recognizes toys that have inspired creative play and enjoyed popularity over a sustained period. Each year, the prestigious hall inducts new honorees and showcases both new and historic versions of classic toys beloved by generations.
How It Works…
Breyer fans and members of the public can nominate toys online through the National Toy Hall of Fame website through July 31st, 2023. An internal museum advisory committee comprised of curators, educators, and historians reviews the submitted nominations and determines which toys meet the criteria for selection. A national selection advisory committee then reviews the list of toys that meet the criteria.

Selection Criteria
Inducted toys are selected on the basis of the following criteria. In addition, we have given you some ideas of how Breyer meets each criterion that may assist with your nomination. Of course, please use your own words to explain why you think Breyer Horses deserves this special recognition.

Icon-status: the toy is widely recognized, respected, and remembered.

Longevity: the toy is more than a passing fad and has enjoyed popularity over multiple generations.

Discovery: the toy fosters learning, creativity, or discovery through play.

Innovation: the toy profoundly changed play or toy design. A toy may be inducted on the basis of this criterion without necessarily having met all of the first three.
How You Can Help
Help nominate Breyer for the Toy Hall of Fame! We think that the most iconic toy and collectible horses - Breyer - belong in the Toy Hall of Fame. Breyer horses have provided hours of imaginative play for decades. Here's what we love about Breyer. Feel free to share or write your own!
- Long time toy and collectible - share a story of your first Breyer model and what made playtime so special.
- Kept for a lifetime - Breyer is made of a fabulous material that is durable for play and beautiful for display -- AND is passed down from generation to generation. How many Breyer models do you have and how long have you been collecting?
- Arts and Crafts - Breyer models can be repainted into your dream horse! Have you done any customizing or painting with Breyer craft kits or models?
- The Breyer look - Breyer has passionate equestrian artists that understand the nuances of each breed and color. Did a Breyer model inspire your love of a particular breed?
- Authentic - Breyer is the go-to for breed organizations and owners of champions - it's an honor for a horse to join the Breyer stable of champions. Have you met any "real" Breyer models, or have favorite? What makes them so special to you?
- Model Horse Hobby - Artists create amazing one-of-a-kind customized Breyer models, authentic miniature saddles and bridles and more that rival the details and cost of the real thing. Tell the Toy Hall of Fame about our wonderful hobby and what you enjoy most.
- Community - Do you have a favorite TikTok or YouTube model horse channel or influencer? What makes it fun?
- BreyerFest - now in its 34th year, BreyerFest is an amazing three days of horse and model horse entertainment and fun! Onsite has over 30,000 attendees and the virtual event has over 100 countries participating. Tell the THOF when you attended BreyerFest and what you like most about it!
- Giving Back - Breyer has donated more than $3,000,000 in cash to child and animal charities. Let the THOF know if this is important to you.
