Educating new collectors and horse lovers has always been a staple of BreyerFest! Our Seminar presenters offer a wealth of knowledge about both real horses and the model horse hobby. All of our seminars are FREE and do not require registration. Seminars are hosted in the Theater at the Kentucky Horse Park Visitor Information Center for our in-person guests, and virtual guests can watch recordings of these sessions on BreyerHorses.com!

Color Theory with Mindy Berg of Spruce Mountain Studios
Join Mindy for an exploration of the many ways to use colors! Join her on an exploratory journey to learn how artists can alter the perception of color! This will include tips on painting and ways you can use color to your advantage when creating, displaying, and photographing a model horse. Mindy will fascinate you with her knowledge of the magic of color, while exploring ways to apply it to your artwork!
Herd Your Horses with Robin Briscoe
As your collection grows, it becomes increasingly important to keep track of your models. Knowing what you have out on display and packed away helps to prevent duplicate purchases, fill in gaps, plan your show string and insure your collection. Hobby expert Robin Briscoe will give you tips for recording additions, tracking important data including condition and value and even insuring your collection. Both paper logs and computer tracking ideas will be presented. A must for anyone with an expanding Breyer herd!
Identifying Your Breyer with Liz Cory
In this lecture, Liz will walk viewers through the process of figuring out which model you have, determining its age, valuing the piece, and more. Collectibility is a component in model horse showing, and knowing what you have in your herd is an asset! Liz will also touch on research, documenting your collection, and (if the time comes) best practices when liquidating a collection.
Introduction to Model Horse Showing with Kim Bjorgo-Thorne
Interested in learning how to show your models? Kim, one of the manager’s of our Children’s and Youth model horse show at BreyerFest is here to show you the ropes! Suitable for all ages of new showers, this presentation will walk you through getting started in the fun, educational, and exciting world of model horse showing!
Repairing Models with Jennifer Danza
Don’t we all wish we could touch up some of our favorite models once they start to show signs of age? Now you can! Jenn Danza’s step-by-step lecture will help you fix the most common types of damage seen on model horses from leg and ear breaks to yellowing. There will be a question and answer period too. Sunshine, Snowdrops, and Mushrooms with Lesli Kathman
When it comes to understanding the genetics behind horse colors and patterns, Lesli Kathman knows her stuff! This summer’s lecture, “Sunshine, Snowdrops, and Mushrooms” highlights new discoveries in the field of horse color research with a dive into these three newly-discovered horse color genes. Lesli’s talk will also cover additional research being done in the field of horse color genetics. There will be time at the end of the lecture for questions, so bring a notebook!
