Highland Games at BreyerFest!
To celebrate this year’s Celtic Fling at BreyerFest, we’ve invited some amazing athletes to participate in a series of heavy athletics that are traditionally a part of the Highland Games.
These games, with anecdotal origins dating back to the 11th Century and a more official revival in the early 1800s, are a part of the Scottish national heritage. The Braemar Gathering, which takes place in September of each year, is the largest Highland Games celebration in Scotland and is even attended by the Royal family!
Come watch our athletes perform three times a day in Celebration Park and be wowed by their skills! Demonstrating the hammer throw, stone throw, and even the caber toss, our athletes will be going the distance!
Nikita Marzano, from Wilmington, DE, has been throwing for nearly 7 years and currently holds the women’s sheaf world record with the 10-pound bag at 36 feet! She was one of the first women to ever throw at the Loon Mountain Highland Games & Festival in New Hampshire and placed 3rd at the Women’s Highland Games World Championship in 2019. Nikita also competes as a powerlifter, and some of her competition bests were achieved in 2019 – a 440-pound squat, a 235-pound bench, and a 505-pound deadlift! Come cheer on this amazing athlete this summer at BreyerFest!
Check back in the coming weeks as we introduce some more of our strong men and ladies who will be participating in the Highland Games at BreyerFest!
