With exquisite new sculptures and finely detailed finishwork, each release in Breyer’s Premier Collection is a true celebration of equine artistry.
In 2021, Mustang stallion Fireheart took the Premier Collection by storm. We’re pleased to announce that in this second Premier Collection release, he gets a Mustang family that is just as awe-inspiring as he is: mare Tigerlily, and colt Firestorm.
Sculpted by equine artist Rayvin Maddock of Khrysalis Studios, special care and consideration were taken to ensure that not only these two would interact well with Fireheart, but also be a dynamic pair on their own. Telling a story through sculpture, Rayvin shares, “Tigerlily's pose was meant to represent spirit and wildness - while exuding femininity and that protective mama vibe as she keeps an eye on her mischief-making colt.”
Rayvin sculpted Firestorm in all his young colt glory - with the antics that come with it! “Being an energetic, troublemaking colt, he is always trying to look tough and pretend he is the stallion of the herd,” she says. “I imagine him being that storm that blows through the herd leaving mischief in his wake.” Rearing and pawing at the air, Firestorm is the first Traditional-scale rearing foal in the Breyer line.
Fellow Canadian artist Lynn Cassels-Caldwell of Snowdrift Studio designed the original coats for this pair in her first work for Breyer. Taking into consideration the genetic possibilities to create their authentic coat colors, she painted Tigerlily a rich blue roan, and her colt a flashy buckskin appaloosa. A lifelong horseperson and professional artist, she shares that her favorite part of this project was “enhancing Firestorm’s mischievous personality and unique posture with expressive color and detail.”
