The Fourth Web Special in the 2022 Birds of a Feather Series!
Fierce and swift, the peregrine falcon calls much of the world home. Skilled at adapting to different environments, it is equally at home diving off mountainsides and city high rises as it hunts for prey.
Artist Sommer Prosser left no detail out when she designed Peregrine’s coat. Poised mid-flight, Breyer’s Peregrine has a dun blanket Appaloosa coat color that was inspired by a juvenile peregrine’s earthy-hued feathering. His leg barring echoes the barred feathers of the peregrine’s wings, and his spotted blanket is reminiscent of the falcon’s distinctive pale throat that transitions into a spotted pattern on its chest. Peregrine also has a dorsal stripe, striped hooves with shoes, and “Peregrine 2022” stamped on his belly for authenticity.
