Painting a Leopard Appaloosa - Video Tutorial
Although this loud leopard appaloosa pattern may look complicated at first, it can be broken down into manageable parts that can be used by artists of any skill level! In this video tutorial, join equine artist and YouTuber DeeJayBe Studios as she paints a stunning leopard appaloosa in simple acrylics.
Recommended Supply List:
- Black and white acrylic paint
- Rubber gloves
- Gloss medium
- Fine-point paintbrushes (synthetic/taklon)
- Cup of water
- Paper towels
- Paint palette (or plastic lid/paper plate)
- Matte sealing spray (ex. Americana, Rustoleum, Dullcote)
- Reference image of leopard appaloosa horse
- Reference image of horse hair growth chart
Optional But Handy Additional Supplies:
- Additional acrylic paint
- Burnt Umber
- Metallic gold
- Light tan/skin tone
- Multipurpose sandpaper (200 and 400 grit)
- Mini hacksaw (or steak knife) for removing unicorn horn, if necessary
- Respirator/mask
- Old toothbrush
