Stablemates Hay Cart: Video Tutorial

This hay cart may be fall-themed, but you can make it fit any season or occasion! Join artist Laura Skillern-Sailer as she shows you how to craft this small but mighty wheeled vehicle for your Stablemates models.

This is a replay of a live workshop held as part of Breyer's 2023 National Fun Day.

Recommended Supply List:

• Two wood spoked wheels (2" wide with 1mm center hole)
• Decorative thumb tacks
• Long yellow scenery grass
• Varathane Aged Wood Accelerator (or wood stain/paint of your choice)
• Loctite super glue gel control
• Bass wood:
• Sheet, 1/16”x3”x6”
• Strip, 1/16”x1/2”x12”
• Strip, 1/16”x1/8”x12”
• Square post, ¼”x1/4”x6”
• Square post, 5/32”x5/32”x24”
• Fine grit sandpaper
• Dremel tool with sanding wheel, cutting wheel, and drill bit (or craft knife/box cutter, small hand saw, and hand drill)
• Small paintbrush

Optional Supplies:

• Miniature white pumpkins (or other items to fill your cart with)
• Acrylic craft paint (for pumpkins)
• Recommended colors: orange, purple, light teal
