Know Your Breyer
Facts About Breyer Horses
Breyer is 100% American owned and operated, founded in Chicago in 1950, operating out of New Jersey since 1984.
Every Breyer product is designed by the world’s leading equestrian artists, overseen by equine experts with degrees and experience in equestrian sciences. Many of Breyer’s internal staff actively ride and care for horses on a regular basis.
Breyer works with the top equine sculptors in the world. Because each breed has unique qualities of conformation and muscle structure, Breyer ensures that each model comes from the hands of a true expert for that particular breed.
Unlike standard toys, Breyer models are crafted from a unique resin selected to capture depth of detail, delicate feel and rich color.
In the 1/12 and 1/9 scales Breyer uses Cellulose Acetate, which is three times as expensive as standard materials. This captures an unparalleled depth of detail and delicate feel, ensuring that Breyer’s product is unlike any other on the market.
Every Breyer model is hand-painted, most beginning from a white base, requiring multiple layers of paint that create the richness of depth and color only Breyer delivers.
Just like real horses, no two Breyer models are exactly alike. Because every Breyer is hand-painted, minute differences can be detected between horses, helping them seem as authentic as possible.
