Meet the Manager | BreyerWest 2024
Hey everyone! My name is Heather Malone and I am the new show manager of BreyerWest for 2024. I would like to take a minute to introduce myself to all you BreyerWest fans and talk about this year’s show!
I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge and thank Erin Corbett for resurrecting this show and managing it for eight incredible years. I have attended BreyerWest since it was restarted by Erin and her vision and perseverance have made this show a premiere destination event.
I am a long-time hobbyist. I am a collector, show holder, judge, avid shower and I am one half of the Mares in Black podcast, along with Jackie Rossi. My day job is in aerospace communication, specifically publications and art direction (yes, there are model horses in my office). There is no time that I don’t remember loving horses and I got my first Breyer when I was 4 years old. I rode and showed real horses most of my young adult life. I started in hunter/jumper and moved on to dressage later. I have ridden a variety of breeds and disciplines, though English will always have my heart. Model horses have always been an important part of my horse girl journey and I love this community with all my heart and soul.
My true love in the hobby is organizing events. I love holding shows, I love having parties, I love making people happy and showing them a good time. I held my first show as soon as I felt like I could pull it off, and in 2003, Smoky Mountain Spring happened in Waynesville, NC and it was a 10 division, two-day extravaganza. I have been hooked ever since. I am also responsible for Rocky Mountain Spring Fling, Candyland Live, Eerie Equine, and most recently Jackie and I started Resin Renaissance at BreyerFest.
I am already hard at work with Kat working through staffing, judges, workshop leaders and artists. We are excited with how the lineup is coming together and I think you will be too. We also hope to offer a couple of new twists on established events so stay tuned!
In case you missed it, event dates are March 15-17. I hope to see all of you there. I encourage you to be ready when registration goes up (mid-November) as the event has sold out for most things very quickly in the last few years. Over the coming months, this page will be the place to get all the updates and announcements for BreyerWest 2024. Follow along on the BreyerWest Blog and official Breyer Model Horse social media pages for updates.
I am excited to continue bringing this amazing event to the hobby and I look forward to seeing everyone in Denver in March!
