The Friesian is a horse breed originating from the Friesland area of the Netherlands. As use in agricultural pursuits declined, the Friesian became popular for recreational use both in harness and under saddle. Often you will see Friesians in the discipline of dressage, or pulling traditional carriages called a "sjees."

Friesians are prized for their fluid, elegant and suspended gaits which are emphasized by feathering on the lower legs, a fine mane and beautiful, long tail. This is a horse of luxurious and proud appearance that is also full of personality.
