BreyerFest 2019 5k Recap
In addition to celebrating 30 years of BreyerFest, this year we celebrated our fourth BreyerFest 5k! The run raised money for Old Friends, a local Lexington charity. You can read more about them and our other BreyerFest Beneficiaries here.
Lil’ Ricky Rocker was back again to lead more than 400 runners through a 3.1 mile run through the beautiful and scenic Kentucky Horse Park. We said it last year, but we think Ricky should receive his own medal!
Also receiving a medal was our unofficial race winner, Jacob Lange. Because Jacob has been interning at Breyer this summer, he unfortunately cannot be our official winner - although we are still amazed by his time of 17:16! This means that Patrick Karelis, from Lakeville, MN, was our winner with an impressive time of 18:45.
Our top female finisher was Maggie Schroeder, from Fort Thomas, KY, with a time of 20:29.
Our top three finishers for both men’s and ladies each received a model of LV Integrity, an Arabian gelding and endurance racehorse that was one of BreyerFest’s portrait horses for 2018’s Off to the Races event. He is still an active competitor!
The top finishers in each of our age group categories received Malik, the 2019 Freedom Series Horse of the Year – another stunning Arabian horse.
The full results of the race are available here.
It’s never too early to start training, so we hope to see everyone back again for next year. Happy running over the next few months!
