A sassy Norwegian Fjord is shaking up the status quo of the Dressage world! In a sport known for tall, dark warmbloods, Corgi Hill Flinka, a 15-year-old grey dun mare, is showing the world that you don’t necessarily need long legs to perform those upper-level movements
With a big forelock and an even bigger personality, Flinka came into owner Alexandria Andrasko’s life by chance in 2014. After dabbling in jumping and driving, they found their niche in the dressage ring and started quickly moving up the levels. In shows at First, Second, and Third Levels, they remained undefeated.
While she’s made quite the name for herself at Midwestern shows, Flinka has also won multiple national championships, including the US National Pony Cup in Fourth Level and the Prix St. George. She’s also taken home multiple FEI high point and breed awards and has helped Alexandria secure her USDF Bronze and Silver medals, and her Gold medal is in progress. The pair is currently competing at the Intermediate levels and have their sights on the Grand Prix ring.
Outside of the show ring, Flinka has traveled with Alexandria to participate in various child and adult therapy sessions showcasing her sweet side. For Alexandria, her little Norwegian Fjord has made her dreams come true in more ways than she could have ever imagined. Flinka is truly her heart horse and has shown her that the impossible can be possible with a lot of love, work, and a sassy personality!
With a stunning silver black coat like chocolate and a lush silver mane and tail, it’s hard not to stand out from the crowd. Vindur from Dalalif, a 16-year-old Icelandic stallion, is turning heads wherever he goes not only for his exceptionally good looks, but for his talent and athleticism as well.
Vindur was bred and born in California and was acquired by owner Lucy Nold when he was 5 years old. From then on, the pair has dominated the West Coast in Icelandic breed shows. His specialty is the V2 class, also known as Open Four-Gait, where horses must present the trot, canter, slow tölt, and fast tölt. He was the top-ranked V2 horse in the International Federation of Icelandic Horse Associations’ world rankings in 2023 and 2024 and was 3rd for 2025. Vindur has also held the title of highest-judged domestic bred four-gaited Icelandic stallion since 2018. To Lucy, Vindur is the whole package. Yes, he has incredibly good looks, but it’s his athleticism and winning personality that make him a true standout.
Knabstruppers are known for their calm temperaments and flashy coats which make them enjoyable to watch in the show ring. Pyxis av Drӧmmarna is a 12-year-old Knabstupper stallion owned by Kimberly Ramirez of Shakespeare Farm LLC. and is as flashy as they come. “Pyxis,” as he is known in the barn, embodies the unique beauty of the breed as well as its docile temperament and intelligence. He is the sole Knabstrupper stallion approved for life by the Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association, the Knabstrupperforeningen (KNN), and the Westfalen Knabstupper book simultaneously. In addition to his incredible breeding achievements, Pyxis has also received top placings in both dressage and eventing competitions, demonstrating the breed’s versatility.
Having Pyxis join Kimberly’s team has been a dream come true, as he is not just visually eye-catching, but also deeply willing,
Öjvind (pronounced “œyvind”) a 7-year-old Gotland Pony stallion, is passing on key genetics to help his breed flourish both in the United States and Sweden. He was imported to the US in exchange for mares from Leslie’s herd. Within 11 months after his arrival in the US, he already had his first foal on the ground. Aside from passing on important old genes, his easy-going temperament, athleticism, and loyal personality are present in each of his offspring. Öjvind was trained to both ride and drive. He took everything in stride, proving just how smart and easily-trained Gotland Ponies are. He has also been a representative of his breed at BreyerFest for the past three years, participating in Kokovoko’s demonstrations. Öjvind’s arrival has helped create new partnerships between the US and Sweden that ensure the growth of the Gotland population so future generations can enjoy this historic pony breed.
GG Kiss Me Kate is the winningnest Vanner horse in the history of her breed. Developed by Romani travelers in the British Isles to pull caravans, these small but hardy draft horses are reliable and friendly. Over the last few decades their eye-catching colors and feathering have made them a fast favorite on the worldwide equestrian stage.
Foaled in 2013 and owned by Samantha Crooks, the stunning black mare is a 56 time supreme grand champion, a 34 time national champion, a four time national supreme grand champion, and a member of her breed’s Hall of Fame. It seems no challenge is too great for "Kate" as she has won in-hand, in harness, and under both English and Western saddles. She has also produced foals that have been national champions in their own right.
Kate was bred by Gypsy Gold Horse Farm, the owners of which imported the first Vanners to the United States in 1996. Kate's grandsire, The Gypsy King, had his own Breyer portrait model produced in the year 2000.
On August 6, 2004, horseman Juan Alberto Tirado Lizarraga made one of the greatest claim purchases in Quarter Horse racing history at Los Alamitos Race Course in California: a 2-year-old American Quarter Horse filly named Apollitical Time for $16,000. Under his ownership, the daughter of Thoroughbred stallion Apollo would become a racing champion and earn more than $900,000 on the track.
In 2007 Tirado bred the mare to a famous sire named Mr Jess Perry. The result was a copper sorrel colt he named Apollitical Jess who would take the track by storm. His achievements included the title of 2010 World Champion Racing American Quarter Horse and record-setting wins such as the prestigious Champion of Champions and Los Alamitos Super Derby. He retired from racing in 2010 with career earnings of $1,399,831. He is currently the sport's #2 all-time leading sire of racing Quarter Horses with more than 500 winning progeny that have earned over $54 million total. Apollitical J Streak will be at BreyerFest this summer to represent his sire.
Meet Jaguel Hilton who is the only Criollo stallion currently standing in the United States. Born in 2007, he was imported to the US from Uruguay’s famed Cabana Septiembre by his current owners, Gravitas Criollos. Finely bred, “Hilton’s” achievements include being a two-time qualifier for the Freno de Oro/Freio de Ouro world finals, which can be described as a high-intensity versatility ranch horse competition.
The Criollo is a lesser-known breed in the US that hails from South America. These athletic stock horses are descendants of the mounts of Spanish conquistadors and still retain their ancestor’s regal appearance. Hardy, with good bones and endurance, they quickly became the horse of choice for South American gauchos.
Now retired from competition and standing at Gravitas Criollos in Missouri, Hilton is helping to spread the word on what amazing partners Criollos are. Hilton’s offspring are already demonstrating the breed’s versatility as working ranch horses, as well as competing in working equitation!
Cash is a 2009 buckskin Quarter Horse gelding, who was entered by his owner, Andrew Monigold of Ohio, in Breyer’s 75th anniversary essay contest. Andrew’s essay highlighted how former lesson horse Cash taught countless children to ride before retiring and starting his life with Andrew. Their partnership rekindled Andrew’s lost love of horses from childhood, and introduced the pair to their new passion, ranch roping!
Last year in honor of Breyer’s 75th anniversary an essay contest was held with the prize being a chance at having your favorite horse become a Breyer model. A team of 12 judges poured through the nearly 2,000 incredible entries received. While Breyer believes every horse is a superstar, only one could be chosen to become part of our lineup – which was Cash! Andrew said it best in his essay, “Being a Breyer model would show everyone that dreams of every level are worth celebrating and even small victories deserve rewards.”
Note: Cash's Breyer model will not be available at BreyerFest.
