Meet Hamish, this year’s BreyerFest animal model!
Created on the Angus Bull mold (#365, which has not been used by Breyer since 2004!), sculpted by Chris Hess, this beautiful Irish Moiled Bull represents one of the rarest cattle breeds to originate in Ireland. Used for both beef and milk and originally bred in the northern Irish counties, this majestic animal - considered one of the oldest cattle breeds in Ireland - can now be found all over the world. (In fact, Finland boasts an incredibly high population of Irish Moiled Cows, suggesting that the Vikings were quite fond of this breed, too!)
These gentle giants are known by farmers for their longevity, but they also have incredibly distinct markings – some are almost completely white!
We hope you love Hamish as much as we do!
Keep your eyes on the BreyerFest blog in the coming weeks for more fun reveals!

The model looks amazing! While I may be a little biased since I own Scottish Highland cattle and show them I thought that should have been the non equine animal for this year. They are also an old breed of cow (their nickname is the grand olde breed) and they also have a very interesting coat( if you do not know about this breed a picture will show their beauty in the best possible way besides in real life of course). It may require either a new mold or divisions to a current cow mold but I’m sure if Breyer is up to the challenge they would be able to find a way to make a realistic model of this beautiful breed of cow.

Kinda wish he was a horse……

If he’s an Irish Moiled, why hasn’t he got an Irish name? Hamish is a Scottish name 😢
Padraig would have been better.

Ive been telling family and friends since the Celtic theme announcement that this breed should be used for the SR ‘animal’. Irish moiled cattle are a beautiful breed with fun unique color. Was hoping the Charolais mold but perfectly happy with the Angus mold which probably suits a bit better. Kudos Breyer for using an actual breed that reflects the theme instead of just the SR models names. We would like to see more of this!
