From the Horse’s Mouth - Part Two
A Guide to BreyerFest from the Planning Team
Activities at BreyerFest
Last week, we talked about the different types of tickets that you’ll receive for BreyerFest, but before you buy those tickets, we want to make sure you know what’s happening over the course of the weekend. More detailed schedules will be available online once tickets go on sale, so please be sure to look at them before making your final ticket purchases. BreyerFest tickets are non-refundable.
There is a lot going on over the three days of BreyerFest, and we want to make sure that guests get to experience as much of the action as possible! In addition to the free activities that go on all day long in the Covered Arena and out in Celebration Park, there is also a lot of other stuff happening that you may not be aware of, so let’s break it down!
2019 BreyerFest Open Model Horse Show |
2018 BreyerFest Youth Model Horse Show |
Model Horse Shows – On Friday, at the Alltech Arena, BreyerFest hosts the Open Model Horse show for experienced participants with Three-Day tickets. This fast-paced show is some of the best in model horse showing and if you’ve never seen a model horse show in action, definitely stop by for a peek – just don’t touch!
On Saturday, BreyerFest hosts the Youth and Children’s Model Horse Shows at the Alltech Arena, open to Three-day ticket holders 16 and under. These shows are slower-paced and geared towards younger and newer showers with a focus on the educational experience. The Youth Show and Children’s Show are separated by age: the Children’s Show is for kids 12 and under and the Youth Show is for participants 13 to 16. Both shows run concurrently and have the same class list.
Collectors with porcelain or china models are welcome to show at Breakables Live, which is hosted at the Clarion hotel on Thursday afternoon.
If you’re a fan of resin models, then The Resin Futurity show is right up your alley. This show will also take place on Thursday during the day – location to be announced.
For rules and information for all these shows, especially if you are a first-time shower or are coming back after a hiatus, please visit the BreyerFest Model Horse Shows page on www.breyerhorses.com. Class lists and other important documents can be found here. You may also reach out to the Events Team at BreyerFest@reevesintl.com for specific questions.
Sculpting in BreyerFest Workshops | Painting in BreyerFest Workshops |
Workshops - BreyerFest offers around three dozen workshops throughout the weekend that are open to Three-day ticket holders only and DO require pre-registration online. Workshops are offered on a variety of topics, and most are only one session during the weekend. Please be sure to look at the full schedule online before registering for workshops – workshop registrations are non-refundable. Topics include sculpting, repair, mohair manes and tails, painting, tack-making, and model horse showing.
Seminars at BreyerFest |
Seminars & Film Series – Take a break from the heat and sit in on one of our informative, FREE Seminars! BreyerFest offers approximately ten to twelve free Seminars over the course of the weekend and has once again partnered with the EQUUS film festival to offer a selection of equine-related films. Seminar topics range from model horse collecting and how to get involved in showing, to real horse topics presented by some of our guest horse owners. Sessions are 60 minutes long (except the Sunday films) and take place in the Visitor Information Center (VIC) theater.
2019 Silent Auction Donation Donated by J. Harris-Spencer |
2019 BreyerFest Raffle | 2019 BreyerFest Live Auction |
Auctions and Raffles - Throughout the weekend, be sure to stop by the Breyer Booth to buy tickets for one of the two BreyerFest Benefit Raffles or to place a bid on any of our Silent Auction donations. Raffle models will be unveiled in the spring next year, but we promise you they are awesome! The Silent Auction contains a mix of Breyer test models, special models, and donations from Guest Horse Owners, Artists, and Vendors. If you want some serious auction action, head on over to the Hall of Champions on Saturday evening to participate in BreyerFest’s Live Auction, which starts at 5:30 pm.
2018 BreyerFest Off to the Races Diorama Contest Entries |
Diorama Contest – The theme of our diorama contest will be announced when tickets go on sale in January, but just as a heads up, here is some general information: one entry per person; each entry must use at least on Breyer model of any scale and fit in a 12” cube; entrants must be Three-day ticket holders and all entries must be submitted by the original artist with a 3” x 5” index card explaining the diorama.

2019 Evening Celebration of Horses Alltech Arena |
BreyerFest Artisans' Gallery Clarion Hotel |
Friday evening Swap Meet Clarion Hotel |
Evening Activities - the evening Celebration of Horses show is just one of the options for after-hours activities at BreyerFest. The Clarion, our host hotel, is the home of the BreyerFest Artisans’ Gallery and Swap Meet.
The Artisans’ Gallery showcases the best of the best in the model horse hobby world, from custom tack and models to fine art. It’s also the home of each year’s BreyerFest Best Customs Contest Finalists. The Gallery is open in the evenings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of BreyerFest weekend.
To add to the action at the Clarion on Friday night, there is the BreyerFest Swap Meet, which is open to individuals looking to sell off parts of their collections or other model horse-related items. The BreyerFest Swap Meet is NOT open to retailers for selling, but retailers are welcome to apply to be a part of the Vendor Marketplace in the Covered Arena at the KHP.
BreyerFest 5K |
BreyerFest 5K – Sunday morning at BreyerFest is the 5K, which winds runners around the Alltech Arena. Advance registration opens when BreyerFest tickets go on sale, and packet pick-up takes place on-site at the KHP Friday and Saturday of BreyerFest, or Sunday morning before the race. All runners receive a finisher’s medal and top winners receive a model horse prize!
We hope you are as excited by all that BreyerFest has to offer as we are!
