From the Horse's Mouth - Part Five
A Guide to BreyerFest from the Planning Team
FREE Activities at BreyerFest
Three-Day ticket holders have access to a LOT at BreyerFest, in addition to cool models! A major perk of purchasing a Three-Day ticket is that it also includes admission to many of the KHP’s attractions, including the International Museum of the Horse and the American Saddlebred Museum. You could fill a whole day at BreyerFest and not spend a penny on things to do!
As well, all ticket holders have access to the following FREE activities all weekend long:
- Stablemates Painting in the Craft Tent
- Seminars at the VIC
- Pony Rides
- Petting Zoo
- Carousel
- Kids Jumping Competition
- Autographs with guest horses
- All-day live horse demonstrations in the Covered Arena
- The Hobby Center
- Face Painting and other fun activities provided by our friends from Cincinnati Circus
- The CollectA and Big Dig Dino Dig
Curious about how these activities can fill a day? Well, let’s break it down for you!
9:00 am – BreyerFest gates open. Head right to the Craft tent to paint your Stablemate before it’s too humid!
9:30 am – While you’re in the craft tent waiting for your model to dry, why not check out the magic show or get your face painted? Our friends from Cincinnati Circus are there to help!
10:00 am – Before the day gets too hot, take a stroll through Celebration Park. Just across the bridge from the Collector Club Tent is a whole world of free activities! Stop and talk to our friends from the Kentucky Paleontological Society to learn about their dinosaur bones – even touch a real horse skull! Kids can dig in the sand with our Big Dig diggers and search for hidden dinosaur "bones" in the sand! As well, kids 9 and under can compete in the Jump Off until noon! Sign up and test your agility and speed through a course of miniature horse jumps. After that, hang out with some real horses and take a pony ride or visit some of the adorable animals in our petting zoo.
11:00 am – our aerialist from Cincinnati Circus is about to perform! Stop by their tent in Celebration Park to see her twirl through the air on the silks! Stick around after the show to try the silks for yourself, or take a spin on the carousel.
11:45 am – it’s getting warm, so it’s time to head on down to the VIC to take in a seminar and enjoy the air conditioning.
1:00 pm – while we’re down at this end of the KHP, it’s probably a good time for lunch. (This activity won’t be free unless you’ve brought your own picnic lunch, but sitting in the Bit & Bridle Restaurant to relax is worth it.)
1:45 pm – Head back on up to the Covered Arena to check out the live horse demos. We’ve got more than 200 live horses here at BreyerFest that represent dozens of breeds and disciplines. There is something for everyone!
2:30 pm – Speaking of those horses, it’s time to head on up to the stables to meet some of them! All the stalls are open to the public, and owners, riders, trainers, and grooms are on-hand to talk to you about these amazing animals. If you missed an autograph session, owners are glad to sign your models right at the stalls, as well as take photos! Barn 7 is home to many of our guest horses, but don't forget all the equine stars in barns 6 and 5!
3:30 pm – If you didn’t get a chance to take one of our amazing workshops this year at BreyerFest, stopping at the Hobby Center is the next best thing! Here, a collection of amazingly talented painters, sculptors, tack-makers, and more are gathered ready to talk to you about their work. They also have printed information they can provide you so that you can fine-tune your hobby work at home! On display in this tent are various tacked models from Breyer, as well as an example of the painting stages each model goes through before it hits the store shelf! A definite must-see!
4:30 pm – Time flies when you’re having fun! It’s nearly the end of the day at BreyerFest. If you’ve got evening show tickets, head to any Shuttle Stop to grab a KHP Loop shuttle to the Alltech Arena. Doors to the arena open at 5, giving you plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and sit and relax in the AC before the show starts.
Whew! What a busy day!
