Meet Josie!

Meet Josie!

Meet Queen of Hearts, better known as Josie. While Josie looks every bit the typical bay warmblood on her right side, it’s her left side that has been known to turn quite a few heads, as it’s covered in unique white brindle markings that resemble stripes! These markings, which only appear on one side, may possibly be the result of her being a chimera, which occurs when two non-identical embryos fuse together in utero.

The 2002 KWPN mare has been owned by Gabriella Savettiere since 2009. They enjoyed a successful career in the Children’s Hunters together, including being the 2012 & 2013 1st Over Fences & Reserve Champion at Zone 2 Hunter Finals. In the Adults, they most recently were the 2020 M&S 2’6” Adult Medal Year-End Champions! While Josie’s time in the show ring is slowing down, Gabriella’s bond with her once-in-a-lifetime-horse is as strong as ever.

For BreyerFest: Horse of a Different Color, Josie has been immortalized as one of the Traditional (1:9) scale portrait models that will be available in this year’s Limited Edition collection of models.

$75.00 each, 3,500 pieces made for shipment in July; backordered models will ship in late December.

I’m getting a ticket this year, I’m saving money up to buy models and this one is on my list.

Eleda - January 15, 2021

Hooray for a brindle, and a really neat chimera one at that! I love that she’s based on a real horse. I love even more that she’s not a World Champion, high-end breeding horse, but rather a beloved family horse shown regionally! Congrats to Gabriella and Josie for being honored with a portrait model. She’s beautiful!
