Welcoming Back Sommer Prosser!
A commercial artist since 1997, Sommer Prosser specializes in the realistic portrayal of the horse. Her prolific work for Breyer has included designing the coat colors for many models (such as Goji, Truffles, and America the Beautiful Series), sculpting ornaments for the Holiday line, as well as sculpting many beloved Traditional Scale molds. Her first sculpt for Breyer was the National Show Horse, Rejoice, for BreyerFest 1998. Other sculpts by Sommer include the Strapless mold, Zippo Pine Bar mold, and Latigo mold.
Sommer is also known for her highly realistic airbrush paint jobs, including portraits of real horses. You can learn more about Sommer’s incredible work and longevity in the model horse hobby on her website, Studio Sommer.
Sommer will be back at BreyerFest this summer featuring her recent work in the Artisans’ Gallery starting on Thursday evening. Be sure to stop by and say hello – Sommer’s work is an incredible part of Breyer history!
