BreyerMidwest Artists!

We love BreyerMidwest because it has all the fun of it’s bigger cousin BreyerFest, but in a smaller package that creates a more personal experience between fans and Breyer artists.

Joining the fun this year are Laura Skillern Sailer and Ruth Sheridan, two incredible artists who are looking forward to sharing their knowledge and skills with fans of all ages, and even getting a little messy, too!

Laura Skillern Sailer, who is hosting the delicious fantasy base-making class “Ice Cream Sundae Bases” on Saturday will be at her artist table all day Sunday, January 25^th.  Laura got her start as a model horse artist making custom Breyers over 25 years ago. Since then, she turned her little side hobby into a professional career, making and selling resins, props, and tack for the hobby. She is the seven-time winner of the BreyerFest Best Customs Contest and sculpted the cantering Stablemate Morgan mold and the recently-released Winnifred the Mule for Breyer.  If you ever wanted to learn more about sculping models, Laura is the person to chat with!

Ruth Sheridan will be making the trek from Oregon to join is in Kansas this winter and she cannot wait to show you the literal ropes of tack making if you’re just getting started.  In addition to her fun “Tack Making for Beginners” workshop on Saturday, Ruth will also be setting up shop alongside Laura and our other guest artists on Sunday to chat about her art and her time in the model horse hobby.  A life-long horse girl, Ruth has been customizing model horses for more than two decades and is best known for her drastic customizations across all scales of models, work that has earned her multiple live show championships and BreyerFest Best Customs Contest appearances.
