Remembering Andrea Gurdon, the "Breyer History Diva"
On Saturday, February 17th, the model horse community lost one of its most brilliant cheerleaders - Andrea Gurdon, also known as the "Breyer History Diva." Andrea was a lifelong hobbyist who dove into nearly every aspect of the model horse world over the course of 40+ years, but her biggest passion was Breyer history and collectibility. Since 2009, she wrote over a thousand posts on her "Breyer History Diva" blog chronicling both her own adventures in collecting and documenting her vast wealth of vintage Breyer knowledge. Andrea also used this knowledge to create some of the exciting and informative booklets included with Breyer's Vintage Club models.
“Andrea was one-of-a-kind,” shares Stephanie Macejko, VP of Marketing and Product Development for Breyer. “Her quick wit and storytelling prose made her blog a favorite drop in for many of us. At BreyerFest, I made it a point to stop by her room at the CHIN to say hello, chat a bit, and pick up a copy of the MGR Sampler. Her incredible passion for detail and her interest in how things came to be made for some really interesting conversations! Andrea will be missed.”
Originally recorded for BreyerFest 2021: Horse of a Different Color, we are bringing Andrea's "Models of a Different Color" seminar out from the vault for unlimited viewing. Her enthusiasm and passion for the world of Breyer shine through in these 50 minutes, and we hope you enjoy them in her memory.
