Tales of Triumph: Fearless
"Tales of Triumph" is an ongoing series sharing the tales of five horses who, in their own way, triumphed against all odds. Each story is told from the perspective of the horses themselves. We hope they get you in the spirit for BreyerFest 2024: Against All Odds!
“It was loud and chaotic. The horses around me were afraid. I wasn’t sure how I ended up here. Like many of the others packed tightly in the pens, I was sick, my hooves hurt from not being trimmed, and my bones hurt because I only had a little muscle to protect them. I wasn’t afraid, though - I knew I’d get out of this place. One day I was brought out to humans and one purchased me. As they loaded me on the trailer, they said I was safe.
I got to my new home. My feet were trimmed I was given food and medicine that made me better. Then they started putting smaller humans on my back. I was very confused as to what they wanted me to do. I didn’t want to jump, turn, or go around in a circle because no one showed me how, so I ran and tried to get the small humans off so they could teach me how to do it right. Soon the humans were calling me “naughty.” But I didn’t want to be - I just didn’t know what to do. I was still not afraid and wanted to show these humans how brave I was.
I never got my chance there, and soon after I was put in a trailer and sent to another small human and their mom. I was off to another unknown place, but I wasn’t afraid. These new humans were really good at listening to me and started from the ground up. They taught me how to turn, how to slow down then speed up, and even jump! I really liked how kind and patient they were. I showed them how brave I was by jumping all the jumps they put in front of me (even the ones they said were scary), and I even chased the geese in my pond and said hi to the cows nearby! They loved my confidence and decided to make me a part of their family, and told me I never had to leave their farm.
Soon after they decided to take me to my first horse show. I wasn’t nervous and I knew I could do whatever my small human asked me. I ended up champion! From there it was only up for us. We started winning everything and more small humans, even the ones that used to call me “naughty,” got super-excited to see me everywhere I went. I had a fan club! When my humans told other humans where I came from, they were surprised at how brave and talented I was. My small human soon grew too old to ride me. I was sad, but they had other small humans at the farm who wanted to learn from me. I helped make them champions too! Most of them never showed or jumped before and were nervous. I loved showing them that they, too, had the capability to be fearless in the face of challenges and new situations!”
We hope you all enjoyed and were inspired by the Tales of Triumph mini-series! With December just around the corner, we want everyone to turn up the girl power tunes, get inspired, dance like no one’s watching, and stick around as we release some important ticketing information and more details on BreyerFest 2024 in the coming weeks!
