The Second Release of the 2025 Premier Club!
With exquisite new sculptures and finely detailed finishwork, each release in Breyer’s Premier Collection is a true celebration of equine artistry.
The British Isles are home to many different pony breeds, many of which have trotted across their mountains, moors and valleys for centuries. Even in the fully mechanized 21st century, it is not an uncommon sight to see these ponies grazing the grass in the countryside, sometimes living in a semi-feral or even feral state. These pony breeds are collectively known as the “British native” breeds.
One of the largest of the “mountain and moorland” ponies, the Highland Pony traces its roots back to its namesake Scottish Highlands. In this harsh environment, locals needed animals that were hardy and dependable for day-to-day chores. Their smaller size made Highland Ponies economical to keep, and their versatile coats – dense and thick for the winter, but smooth and sleek for the summer – made them a perfect fit for their purpose.
Rowan was sculpted by Kelly Sealey, herself a British native, as her first Traditional scale model for Breyer. Kelly’s expertise allowed her to capture the Highland Pony as accurately as possible. Kelly created two versions of Rowan – this one with a full mane and full, flowing tail. Both styles of Rowan are decorated with a fabulous dappled cream dun coat created by finishwork artist Tammi Palmarchuk of Winter Glen Studio. This unique color is found in a handful of pony breeds including the Highland Pony.
