Piloted by Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith in all three Triple Crown races, Justify won the Kentucky Derby by 2 1/2 lengths on a sloppy track, ending the 136-year-old "curse of Apollo." In a fog-cloaked Preakness Stakes, Smith and Justify overcame challengers Good Magic and Bravazo to again claim victory.
To clinch the Triple Crown, Justify dominated the Belmont Stakes, leading from wire to wire and winning by almost 2 lengths! His feats made Smith the oldest jockey to win the Triple Crown, and Baffert the second trainer in history to have two Triple Crown winners.
