Their original molds were sculpted by Chris Hess and debuted together in 1965 as "Buttons and Bows." They were released in matte finishes and solid colors, in response to the demands of collectors and hobbyists for greater realism. Today, Clara & Mae feature a beautiful and unique combination of Breyer's past painting techniques: its distinctive early interpretation of Buckskin, the desirable High Gloss finish, and eye-catching splash-spotted Appaloosa hip blankets.
