The Komodo dragon is an endangered species of the monitor lizard family. It is native to some Indonesian islands east of Java. It is the world's largest lizard, growing up to 3 meters or 10 feet, and over 70 kilograms or 150 pounds in weight. As a result of their size, Komodo dragons are apex predators (meaning it is the top predator without natural predators of its own), and dominate the ecosystems in which they live.
