BreyerWest Special Runs Through the Years

One of Breyer’s longest-running events is BreyerWest, first held in 2006. The event was developed as a chance for Breyer fans west of the Mississippi – who may have the means to attend BreyerFest due to distance – to get their own taste of a Breyer-hosted event. Since its inception, BreyerWest has prided itself on welcoming both seasoned model horse hobbyists and local horse lovers for a weekend filled with Breyer activities, model horse shows, and opportunities to meet the people behind your favorite Breyer models (along with the horses themselves on occasion!)

Beginning in 2009, an exclusive model was offered for attendees to purchase at the event. Many of these models have featured luscious glossy coats and stunning colors that make them more than worth the trip!

2009 – Del Mar

The first BreyerWest Special Run was named after the city of Del Mar in the event’s then-home of California. This gorgeous Clydesdale Mare was decorated in classic Cydesdale style as a dappled bay sabino with a blaze and three white socks. Three lucky raffle winners walked away with “Delano,” a matching dappled bay Clydesdale Foal.

2010 – Escondido

Named after yet another Californian destination, Escondido brought the El Pastor mold one of its most stunning paintjobs yet – a dappled flaxen chestnut. Raffled off to three lucky winners was his colt “El Rio,” created on the Running Foal mold.

2011 – Fontana

Fontana continued the California-themed names of the first wave of BreyerWest Special Runs. This beautiful chestnut Paint mare, created on the loose mane and tail version of the Roxy mold, was accompanied by three raffle pieces of her foal, “Finley,” created on the Amber mold.

2022 – Glossy Lionel

Alongside a new home in Denver, CO, BreyerWest Special Runs returned to the event in 2022 – this time as specially-glossed versions of previous models. The first to debut with this shiny coat was Lionel, previously released as a 2020 Flagship retailer exclusive! This palomino blanket appaloosa Cantering Warmblood was limited to 250 pieces total.

2023 – Glossy Chardonnay

For the first time a BreyerFest model was glossed with Chardonnay, released in a limited quantity of 225 pieces. Chardonnay is a portrait of the top dressage German Riding Pony stallion for the Weser-Ems registry in North America.

2024 – Glossy HD Harkness

2024’s exclusive model continued the trend of glossy BreyerFest Limited Editions with a stunning new version of HD Harkness. His red bay coat gleams with this glossy finish! “Hark” the Morgan is one of the country’s top Carriage Pleasure Driving competitors and ambassadors.

2025 – Glossy WGC Marc of Charm

For 2025, BreyerWest has been rebranded as BreyerMidwest in recognition of its new home of Salina, KS. Special Run models are still an important part of the event – and this year we’re excited to offer a glossy version of longtime regular line favorite WGC Marc of Charm.
