Final SR reveal!

Final SR Reveal!

As many fans know, Breyer began as the Breyer Molding Company, a Chicago-based plastics manufacturer. In 1950 the first model horse, the #57 Western Horse, made its appearance as part of a mantelpiece clock for the F.W. Woolworth Company. After getting flooded with requests from people who just wanted the horse, the company changed its focus forever.

This was the start of Breyer’s journey into the world of manufacturing model horses.  Between the 1950s and the 1980s, sculptor Chris Hess created more than 100 of Breyer’s molds, from the Western Horse to Secretariat in 1987. This incredible sculpting journey also includes molds such as Lassie, the “Stonewall” Jumping Horse, Old Timer, and Stud Spider – icons in Breyer history.

In 1980, the Breyer Molding Company was acquired by Reeves International and the business was relocated from Chicago, Illinois to Pequannock, New Jersey where Breyer’s journey as a company continued. Reeves helped grow the company into the premier brand of model horses and equine themed toys, gifts, and collectables.

Just like Breyer’s journey into the world of model horses, here at HQ we know that Life’s a Journey and we are determined to make it a fun one! We hope you embrace this journey with us!
