Today we have another exciting guest horse to introduce to you! Meet Rain, a unique Pryor Mountain Mustang. A direct descendant of the Conquistadors' horses, she was discovered as a foal by Ginger Kathrens of The Cloud Foundation in May 2007. Born in the wild, Rain is the daughter of the famous stallion, Cloud. Rain exemplifies the ideal Spanish horse with her short back, low tail setting, and beautifully tapered head. Her distinctive roan coloring sets her apart from other horses, turning almost completely white with the changing seasons.
After being rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management in 2009, Rain was put up for adoption at just two years old. Lisa Friday successfully bid for her and brought her to her forever home in Virginia, where she now lives with five other Pryor Mountain Mustangs, including other Cloud descendants.
Rain is featured in the third "Cloud" book and movie, Cloud, Challenge of the Stallions. She is semi-retired from trail riding and is now beginning liberty work, exploring new bonds and techniques in a more expressive manner. Rain has appeared in a Dasani commercial chugging a bottle of water, and has been a star at various events, including the Virginia Equine Extravaganza and several Mustang presentations at the home of Secretariat in Virginia.
Traveling to BreyerFest this summer with Rain is her barn-mate Biloxi. Born in the Pryor Mountains as a son of Baja and Washakie, Biloxi, formerly known as Nahwah, found a new home with an Amish couple, serving as their loyal companion and transportation for about five years. Sadly, when the couple could no longer care for him, Biloxi ended up in a kill pen. Fortunately, The Cloud Foundation rescued him, and he now enjoys a peaceful life in rural Virginia with Rain and other mustangs. Biloxi is a true descendant of the Spanish Conquistador horses, evidenced by his prominent dorsal stripe and leg and shoulder barrings. He loves to trail ride and work at liberty in the arena.
In honor of the new Cloud 30th Anniversary model, we wanted BreyerFest fans to meet a Mustang. And not just any Mustang – a daughter of Cloud who ran free with him in the Pryor Mountains in the beginning of her life! Rain, Biloxi, and Lisa Friday are excited to meet everyone this summer.
