Meet the 2024 Breyer Essay Contest Winners!
Three winners each received a special Breyer model of their horse - one of which is coming to the Breyer regular line later this year!
If you’ve ever wanted to meet a real model horse artist, BreyerMidwest is your opportunity! All day on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23, we will be hosting a variety of model horse artists who are there to chat, answer questions about their work, and show off a current project they will be working on in real time!
Joining us all day on Saturday will be Omaha, Nebraska native Carrie Sloan Meyer.
A lover of horses since she was little, Carrie fondly remembers making ribbon halters for her Breyers in her carpet herd. Her family had American Paint Horses since she was 13 years old, and she’s shown them in all-around events on the state and national level for many years riding several APHA Champions.
With her real horse and art backgrounds, making tack became a natural place to land. She was quickly hooked and is mostly self-taught, creating beautiful miniature tack pieces for her models. She eventually branched out to prop making and started live showing. At those live shows, people noticed her work and she started taking commissions. After a few years, she created C. Sloan Originals and turned her tack and prop making hobby into a business.
You can meet Carrie, and see her incredible tack, this spring at BreyerMidwest in Salina Kansas!
And don’t forget, this year’s beautiful event model – a glossy edition of the handsome Marc of Charm – is only available for pre-order with pickup at BreyerMidwest. See you soon!
